Robert Downey Jr returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom makes the concept of the franchise bringing Tony Stark back as an AI like they did in the comics all the more interesting. With Iron Man being the hero who brought the MCU timeline to life - and the hero who bravely sacrificed himself to save half of all life in the universe in Avengers: Endgame - it's understandable that his story is rightly considered one of the franchise's biggest. Interestingly, MCU releases look as though they might also add new chapters to Iron Man's story.

Iron Man deservedly got a lengthy and well-rounded story arc as the original MCU character who started the franchise’s legacy, but it’s still a shame that Marvel glossed over one particular comic storyline. Having a plethora of Marvel Comics to use as reference means that the MCU will never be short on stories to tell. However, it’s unlikely that they’ll be able to adapt all of them for the screen. When it comes to certain characters, the direction that the MCU chooses to go with a character depends on how it will affect the greater franchise.
