A-list celebrities came out to celebrate the very best in genre entertainment at the 52nd Annual Saturn Awards, hosted for the third consecutive year by Joel McHale. Alien: Romulus took home the award for Best Horror Film, while Cobra Kai came in first in the Best Action/Thriller Television Series category ahead of the release of its final episodes. 452e

Many superhero projects specifically were nominated this year, with Deadpool & Wolverine taking home the most wins. Blue Beetle's Xolo Maridueña won Best Younger Performer in a Television Series last year for Cobra Kai, however, and did so once again this year, besting The Boys' Cameron Crovetti.

Cobra Kai co-creator Hayden Schlossberg teases that the final episodes of the show will be memorable and full of dramatic moments. The hit martial arts comedy-drama has enjoyed significant success since it debuted in 2018, with Netflix acquiring and producing the show from Cobra Kai season 3 onward. With the sixth and final season having aired two of its three parts already, the final five episodes are set to drop on February 13, and will look to round off the stories of its ensemble cast, as well as the titular dojo, in the most satisfactory way possible.

Cobra Kai's ending has pivoted slightly from what the creators had originally planned, according to co-creator Jon Hurwitz. Planned as a continuation of the Karate Kid narrative, but told from the perspective of Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), Cobra Kai was envisioned as an antihero character study, but evolved into something much more. Now, with the third part of Cobra Kai season 6, the Netflix series will come to an end, closing out Johnny's story as Daniel La Russo (Ralph Macchio) prepares to go on to the movie Karate Kid: Legends.

Inside Out 2 co-writer David Holstein has teased how far Riley's story could go, and hints at further installments. The smash-hit sequel to the hugely successful 2015 coming-of-age Pixar animation, Inside Out, was released in June 2024 in the United States and follows Riley Anderson's emotions as she enters high school at the age of 13. Inside Out 2 grossed over $1.69 billion against a production budget of $200 million, becoming a box-office sensation, and led even Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger to claim that he'd love to see a third installment.

Doug Jones recently addressed his potential return to the Star Trek universe, just one year after Star Trek: Discovery wrapped its five-season run. Discovery, which premiered in 2017, followed Commander Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the crew of the USS Discovery as they navigated pivotal moments in Federation history. Jones portrayed Saru, a Kelpien who grew from a cautious first officer into the confident captain of the USS Discovery and later a renowned Federal Ambassador in the Star Trek: Discovery's series finale.

The 52nd Annual Saturn Awards saw Dune: Part Two dominate the night, while Nicolas Cage used his win to criticize AI’s role in entertainment. Chicago Fire's Wendy Seaver actor Andy Allo has given her views on the potential of a return to the successful NBC flagship show. Created by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, Chicago Fire is the first show in the One Chicago franchise, and premiered on October 10, 2012. The character of Wendy did not appear until the show's eighth season but was quick to make her mark, and the possibility of a romance with fan-favorite Severide was hinted at before he rebuffed her. The character appeared in seasons 8 through 11 in a recurring role but has not been seen since.
