- Ted Lasso Season 4 Officially Confirmed By Apple TV+
Ted Lasso season 4 go back to late 2024. At the time, it had been reported that co-production company Warner Bros. TV was looking into bringing back the hit soccer dramedy for a fourth installment. But there has been no official word on the status of the Apple TV+ breakout or what the story might look like. In interviews, much of the cast and crew stressed that Sudekis would share more about the show's return when he felt ready.
During an interview on the New Heights podcast, hosts Jason and Travis Kelce asked Sudeikis about the status of Ted Lasso. Sudeikis said the writers room is currently working on Ted Lasso season 4, and the Emmy-winning actor also confirmed his return, noting that the episodes will be focused on Ted coaching a women's soccer team. But when the Kelces pressed for more information about whether Ted is returning to America, the co-creator amusingly declined to respond. Their exchange is included is below:
Jason Kelce: Is there season 4? Is it in the works? I don't know what I'm allowed to ask.
Sudeikis: I think you can ask it, yeah. That's what we're writing, we’re writing season 4 now. [KELCES CHEER] That’s the official word. Ted’s coaching, yeah, a women’s team. So there, that's it.
Travis Kelce: Is he coming back to the States, or…?
Sudeikis: Yeah, that’s too many questions.
Jason Kelce: [LAUGHS] We’ll leave it at that. We’ll leave it at that.
Sudeikis: And it’s only because I don’t have, I don’t have… I don’t know. [LAUGHS]

Ted Lasso Season 4 Officially Confirmed By Apple TV+
Following Sudeikis' comments, Apple TV+ has officially confirmed Ted Lasso's return for season 4, along with Sudeikis as both executive producer and star. He is the only cast member that the streamer has chosen to confirm at this time.
A statement from Sudeikis was shared alongside the renewal announcement:
As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,' in season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.
Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+'s head of programming, had this to add:
Ted Lasso has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a ionate fanbase all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, comion and unwavering belief. Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.

What This Means For Ted Lasso
The Show Has To Start Up Again
This confirmation from Sudeikis, who created the dramedy with Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly, is the biggest sign so far that Ted Lasso is indeed moving forward. But there have been others. It was revealed late last year that Warner Bros. TV, as one of the co-production studios behind the streaming success, reached out to actors who are a part of the UK acting union to check their availability for a potential season 4. Those actors included Hannah Waddingham, in the role of Rebecca Welton, Brett Goldstein, who plays Roy Kent, and Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins.
Reports also mentioned that Phil Dunster will not be part of the main Ted Lasso cast in season 4, due to scheduling conflicts, though he could still recur as Jamie Tartt.
Outside that initial report, there had been little movement on the show's future. Almost two years after the Ted Lasso season 3 finale, which seemed fairly definitive in its own right, no one involved with the Apple TV+ Original has been sharing much about when or how the next chapter would begin. In interviews, those involved with the production deferred to Sudeikis and underlined that the sports saga was his brainchild.

10 Ted Lasso Storylines That Still Need To Be Resolved
Ted Lasso season 3 was supposed to be the end of the sports comedy, yet another installment may be on the horizon, and these storylines must continue.
Now that Sudeikis has officially given word that the fan-favorite dramedy is coming back, more plot and casting specifics will likely begin to trickle out in the coming weeks and months. A women's soccer team pivot was among the possible directions mentioned for Ted Lasso's return, considering that the series pointed in that direction. But the episodes will have a slightly tricky hurdle to overcome.
Our Take On Ted Lasso's Return
That Flash Forward Should Probably Be Forgotten
The season 3 finale includes a scene that flashes forward and looks at the happy endings for most of the Ted Lasso characters. It can either be viewed as a dream that the titular Ted is having, on the plane ride back to America, or a definitive conclusion for the major and ing protagonists fans have come to love. It should probably be dismissed as a dream though, at least to maintain some intrigue about what happens next. But at least for now, finally, there is definitiveness and a straightforward announcement of season 4.
