Warning! Spoilers ahead for Black Clover chapter 330!
Captain Charlotte Roselei's latest love confession to Captain Yami Sukehiro just made it nearly impossible for fans to decide who the best couple in Black Clover actually is (meaning previous contenders Noelle Silva and Asta have some serious competition).
Although Noelle's earlier confession hit much harder than Charlotte's to Yami in chapter 330, the latter couple share an emotional connection that transcends normal capacities. This connection was just put to the ultimate test in this latest chapter of Black Clover when, in the wake of Asta's defeat of Lucifero, a deeply wounded Yami is believed to be beyond saving. Terrified of losing him, Charlotte cries out that she loves him as she begs him not to die.
Of course, had she waited a few moments, Charmy would have arrived and restored Mimosa's mana, allowing Mimosa to summon a spell that would revive Yami before Charlotte confessed. But not surprisingly, Yami didn't hear Charlotte's confession, leaving her and Yami exactly where they started. The moments leading up to this confession are equally as important. Charlotte has always treated Yami with contempt to hide her true feelings for him not only from herself, but her own brigade. The truth eventually came out, but in a stunning twist, Yami's relationship with her blossomed in the unlikeliest of ways when Charlotte's body was taken over by an elf. While originally based on attraction, this odd "relationship" would later lead to more adorable confrontations between Yami and the freed Charlotte, culminating in this latest confession in chapter 330.
Noelle's infatuation is similar to Charlotte's, in that she treats Asta the exact opposite of how she actually feels. The major difference between both women is that Noelle could never it she had feelings for Asta to herself, even though it's been obvious to readers all along. Which is why chapter 301 made waves when Noelle itted love for Asta - while battling against the devil Megicula, no less. Although this shocking ittance enabled Noelle to unlock her Final Saint Stage, everything reverted back to normal after the battle when Noelle not only referred to Asta as Dorksta twice, but struck him that many times, too.
Ironically, both confessions ended with neither Noelle nor Charlotte making any headway with their respective love interests. Although Noelle's typical Tsundere reactions are somewhat comical, her character is so much more appealing when she allows herself to open up and become vulnerable. Readers dared to hope that change was afoot when she first confessed, before those hopes were quickly dashed just a few chapters later. Meanwhile, Charlotte's struggles with Yami have always been adorable, so readers will undoubtedly come to with the latest development much more quickly than those who have been rooting for Charlotte and Asta.
However, if past Black Clover arcs are of any indication, the fact that Asta just beat Lucifero means there will be some downtime for the next few chapters and more opportunities for characters to interact with each other on a more intimate level.
