DC Comics’ Absolute Universe is finally in full swing, with books like Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Wonder Woman giving fans new ways to appreciate their favorite heroes and villains, with Wonder Woman, in particular, getting a wild makeover that turns her into an even more badass character than before. In new fanart, Absolute Wonder Woman gets a subtle redesign that references Berserk's manga series, bringing its iconic art style to the DC Universe in epic fashion.

Recently sharing this new Wonder Woman look on Reddit’s r/DCcomics channel, artist YanMan (u/YanManXplore) is no slouch when it comes to putting their unique spin on some of the most iconic anime and manga series of all time, with YanMan’s painterly art style being front and center in each new piece.

Previously ing artwork featuring Luffy from One Piece, Momo and Okarun from Dandadan, Frieren from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and more, YanMan has also tried their hand at giving Absolute Batman a rugged redesign, showing the breadth of YanMan’s talents as a creator and all around nerd.

Written and illustrated by the late Kentaro Miura, the dark fantasy series known as Berserk debuted over 30 years ago, with the story’s main character, Guts, being a brutally badass mercenary with a gritty art style to match, giving the character the perfect amount of formidability bolstered by Guts’ signature buster sword that he uses to consistently lop limbs and heads off with. Similarly, Absolute Wonder Woman has an even more massive sword that she can pull from her enchanted pouch when needed, giving this fierce warrior yet another magically-imbued tool alongside her Nemesis Lasso to crush her opponents with.

Absolute Wonder Woman has dazzled fans everywhere and I’ll say it, the amazing magic she has in this series has made her an absolute icon.

Drawn crouched low and deep in thought, almost as if surveying the battlefield for her next move, Absolute Wonder Woman holds an enormous Final Fantasy-esque sword in hand as her hair flares out behind her, with YanMan’s Berserk style ensuring that every line, crosshatch, and scribble becomes an integral part of a piece that does Kentaro Miura justice. Getting each detail of Absolute Wonder Woman’s revamped design just right, YanMan doesn’t skimp on what makes this version of the character look so instantly iconic, with Diana’s buster sword being so large that it can’t even fit on the page properly!

Though Berserk’s creator ed away a few short years ago, Kentaro Miura’s series and highly detailed art style will live on as Studio Gaga and Kouji Mori continue Guts’ story based on notes left by his creator, ensuring that fans will be able to see how his bloody tale ends in the way that Miura intended. Absolute Wonder Woman’s continued success in bringing even more uniqueness to Wonder Woman’s epic world of monsters, magic, and mythology is put on full display in YanMan’s (u/YanManXplore) inspired fanart, making fans wonder what manga mashup they may have up their sleeves next.
