The James Bond game, IO Interactive announced that the beloved fictional spy would be getting his own game. Today, the studio behind the Hitman franchise gave fans their first look at the title, and the titular spy is appropriately dapper.

The first trailer for 007 First Light was showcased today during the June 2025 Sony State of Play, giving fans a glimpse at a young version of Bond. The action-adventure title will tell the origin story of the now-famous spy, showing a reckless and less mature side of the character that hasn't been seen before. Based on the new footage, the game captures the humor and action of the beloved Bond movies, with a protagonist who looks like a young Tom Cruise.

The version of Bond that players will get in 007 First Light is a far cry from the distinguished gentleman from the various movies. IO Interactive chose to go back in time for the action game to show the story of a rash and insubordinate young Royal Navy recruit who will later go on to become the best fictional operative the MI6 will ever have.

The Bond shown off in the trailer is already brilliant and charismatic, with excellent instincts, a brilliant mind, and a whole lot of good luck. On the other hand, young Bond is also quite a handful for the agency, with his reckless disregard for authority making him a potential liability. Bond is referred to as "a bullet without a target," and the driving force of the new game will be to give him one.

Throughout the game, players will take the role of James Bond as he fights, sneaks, and charms his way through his missions on his quest "earn the number" at the MI6. The title promises exciting chase scenes, iconic vehicles, and a thrilling story that re-imagines the beginnings of the famous spy's career.

Like the Hitman titles from IO Interactive, First Light will give players the choice whether they want to play stealthily or run in guns blazing. 007 First Light will be the first James Bond game since 2012's 007 Legends, and it looks like it will be a fun ride for fans of both the character and action video games.

007 First Light will release sometime in 2026 and is available to wishlist now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Fans who sign up now for an IOI will receive an "On Duty" outfit skin and "Gilded Wraith" weapon skin as in-game rewards. A gameplay reveal is coming this summer.
