Despite its dark and troubling story, Hick still implements elements of comedy to make its characters much more relatable and likable. It displays the lighthearted side of this world through the unconventional relationships that are formed throughout Luli's journey.
The Other Boleyn Girl (2008)

The Other Boleyn Girl tells a historical romance story for the ages - when King Henry VIII takes Mary Boleyn as his mistress, her younger sister Anne plots to usurp her role and eventually become queen. It's a different and refreshing take on the story of Henry VIII told from a completely new perspective.
Eddie Redmayne plays William Stafford, and he's ed by an ensemble cast of some of Britain's most famous and talented theater actors - Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Garfield, and Mark Rylance, to name a few, and that's not including Eric Bana, Scarlett Johansson, and Natalie Portman. The film manages to turn what could have been a fairly bland story into something that's impossible not to lose yourself in.

Michelle Williams plays the iconic Marilyn Monroe in this historical drama chronicling the relationship that she forms with aspiring director Colin Clark. Redmayne and Williams have great on-screen chemistry in this lead relationship, consistently making the story all the more gripping and exciting.
Although the story of Monroe has been told plenty of times before, it's never been told from this unique perspective. The film also features Kenneth Branagh as Sir Laurence Olivier in a fairly big role, so its focus is much more on the theater community and Monroe's personal relationships than her professional work.

The Golden Age tells the story of Queen Elizabeth 1, following all the personal trials and political tribulations that she faced during her time on the throne. The film focuses on the latter half of her reign, during which she faced much surprise and betrayal from within her own country.
Eddie Redmayne stars in the film as Anthony Babington, who was convicted for plotting the assassination of Queen Elizabeth along with her estranged sister, Mary Queen of Scots. It was this controversial plot that eventually built the foundations of Mary's case for execution. The Golden Age is one of the best historical drama movies out there for fans of this particular era.

The Yellow Handkerchief follows a troublesome road trip between disruptive teens Martine and Gordy, overseen by an ex-convict named Brett Hanson who is consumed by his now-broken marriage with his ex-wife. It's an extremely effective drama that uses its rich and thematic screenplay to explore plenty of important and relatable ideas.
Kristen Stewart and Eddie Redmayne provide two perfectly moving performances as Martine and Gordy, whose complex lives and histories allow the film to delve into some really astute and philosophical ideas. Like many independent dramas in the same vein, The Yellow Handkerchief does a great job of mixing a compelling story with an important message.

The film has an outstanding cast of musical theater actors including Hugh Jackman, Eddie Redmayne, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, and many more. It's widely regarded as one of the best movie musicals of all time thanks to its compelling characters and moving storylines.
The Danish Girl (2015)

2015's The Danish Girl is an extremely emotional romance movie that's become famous for providing one of the first accurate depictions of transgender women in film. It follows the story of Lili Elbe, who began to realize that she was transgender when her wife asked her to pose as a woman for a painting.
Although Redmayne's casting in the lead role incited some controversy for not actually casting a transgender actress in the lead role, the character is still widely regarded as one of his most impressive performances to date. He manages to capture the distress and internal conflict of Elbe's story so effectively, and his on-screen chemistry with Vikander is entirely captivating.

Redmayne and Felicity Jones provide two great performances in the lead roles as two explorers who are forced to face their potential impending deaths.

The film explores how Hawking came to be regarded as one of the most intelligent people on the planet, whilst also offering an intimate and grounded look at his personal life.
Redmayne won the Academy Award for Best Lead Actor for his performance in the film, proving that the actor is entirely capable of any project thrown his way. The Theory of Everything is widely regarded as one of the best modern biopics out there, and a lot of that is owed to Redmayne's presence.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)
