Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has over 18 unique elements of Pokémon for players to choose from, one of them being one of three starter types, Grass. Grass-type Pokémon are varied but are usually based on plants and fungi, such as Cacturne or Foongus, or creatures that harbor plant life, like Bulbasaur. Most of these Pokémon learn status-inflicting abilities, such as Seed, Spore, or Powder, and are also known for their ability to steal health from their foes with abilities such as Leech Seed and Giga Drain. For this reason, the best Grass-types often consist of ive and sturdy Pokémon that can outlast their opponents in battle.

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the 18 elemental types can pair up to form up to 45 unique combinations, such as Grass-/Dark-type or Grass-/Flying-type. This enables this elemental type to outshine some of its competition, as Grass is often considered relatively weaker than others due to the number of types that resist it. Grass attacks are very effective against Water-, Rock-, and Ground-type Pokémon and weak versus Fire-, Dragon-, Flying-, Bug-, Poison-, Steel-, and Grass-types. In of defense, they are resistant to Electric, Grass, Water, and Ground attacks and vulnerable to Fire, Bug, Flying, Ice, and Poison moves.

The Strongest Grass Types in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Meowscarada spreading its arms while standing in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

According to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is the legendary Wo-Chien, as its stats are excellent for its type. It is resilient, has very high physical and special defense, and excellent special attack bonuses, which synergize well with its access to the Grass and Dark moves. A great second pick only available to Pokémon Scarlet players is the Brute Bonnet, a sturdy Grass/Dark-type Paradox Pokémon that excels at dealing physical damage while still having a decently high special move stat.

Another excellent pick for this category is the third evolution of the starter Spirigatito, Meowscarada. After evolving to Floragato at level 16, this starter will evolve into Meowscarada in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet at level 36 and gain the secondary type, i.e., Dark. Meowscarada is one of the fastest Pokémon in the game and has a very good physical attack stat, providing players with an excellent and well-rounded Grass/Dark type Pokémon. Finally, players looking for something a little more out of the box in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet should also consider Lurantis. Although this Pokémons' stats are average, its potential hidden ability, Contrary, is incredibly good as it turns potentially devastating debuffs into powerful buffs.
