Picking the best Cyberware is crucial to V’s survival in Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberware has received a significant overhaul as part of the game’s Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty DLC, with new and reworked Cyberware available from Ripperdocs all over Night City. However, high-end Cyberware is expensive and hard to upgrade, so it’s important to prioritize the best implants.

V can install Cyberware in ten different body parts: Legs, Integumentary System, Circulatory System, Nervous System, Hands, Skeleton, Face, Arms, Operating System, and Frontal Cortex. Implants can have various functions, ranging from ive Armor to enabling double jumps. It’s also worth noting that although V is practically immune to cyberpsychosis, the new Cyberware Capacity mechanic limits how much they can install at once.

14 Kiroshi “The Oracle” Optics – Face Cyberware

Scan Everything In Sight

Cyberpunk 2077 Kiroshi The Oracle Optics New Face Cyberware

The Kiroshi “The Oracle” Optics are arguably the best pick for optics, as they significantly upgrade V’s scanner.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty’s Cyberware Rework Is A Total Game-Changer

Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty DLC will bring a slew of exciting cyberware changes and updates to the table, which will completely revamp gameplay.

Aside from scanning Phantom Liberty’s Minor Arcana Tarot Cards, the scanner is also handy for surveying the environment. V’s scanner will highlight all enemies, including any behind cover when using these optics within 17.5m. They can also highlight cameras and turrets within 35m and all explosive devices and traps within 28m.

It’s an excellent upgrade that provides V with lots of information, allowing you to plan combat encounters. Many Side Jobs and Gigs involve entering dangerous locations filled with hostile machines and traps. Seeing and avoiding these threats gives V a crucial advantage when doing mercenary work.

13 Reinforced Tendons – Leg Cyberware

Gain Extra Mobility With A Double Jump

The Reinforced Tendons Cyberware was among the best Cyberware in Cyberpunk 2077, even before the latest update. Following the overhaul, they’ve been slightly reworked and improved. Having Reinforced Tendons allows V to double jump, which may seem like a minor upgrade, at least on paper. However, in practice, there are countless situations where double jumping proves useful.

Apart from combat encounters, certain Gigs also become much easier to complete with a double jump. V can jump to previously inaccessible areas, bying guards and security systems and finding simpler, shorter routes to their objective. It’s great for builds that focus on being quick, quiet, and efficient. On top of that, they’re also now attuned to V’s Reflexes stat, granting an extra 0.1% boost to Crit Chance for each point V puts into their Reflexes stat.

12 Memory Boost – Frontal Cortex Cyberware

Get Additional RAM When You Defeat Enemies

Cyberpunk 2077 Memory Boost New Frontal Cortex Cyberware

Most Frontal Cortex Cyberware is designed to benefit hacking-based builds in Cyberpunk 2077; when equipped with Memory Boost, V gains additional RAM for each enemy they neutralize, allowing them to unleash additional quick hacks. Luckily, this isn’t limited to Quickhack kills, so a series of quick kills allows V to regenerate their RAM rapidly.

When using Memory Boost, choosing an advanced cyberdeck with a high amount of RAM is worth it. Having a less advanced Cyberdeck with reduced RAM means additional RAM units generated by kills can be wasted. Memory Boost is an essential pick for hacking-based builds and an excellent tool for improving V’s hacking capabilities.

For a different approach to hacking, pair Bioconductor Cyberware, which allows Quickhacks to deal critical hits, with the Overclock Perk.

11 Cellular Adapter – Integumentary System Cyberware

Gain Various Defensive Bonuses

Cyberpunk 2077 Cellular Adapter New Integumentary System Cyberware

The Cellular Adapter is one of the most unique implants V can install, as it requires the Built Different Perk to work. Built Different becomes available once V has a Technical Ability attribute of 15 and is an excellent choice for tech-based builds. Following the update, V no longer gains protection from clothing and instead gains Armor from Skeleton and Integumentary System Cyberware. As such, V needs implants in these slots to protect themselves.

The Cellular Adapter adds a significant amount of Armor, enhancing V’s damage protection and granting a broad range of useful benefits tied to V’s Technical Ability attribute. This includes:

  • Explosion Resistance (an extra 1% per point),
  • Increased Tech Weapon damage (an extra 0.5% per point)
  • Reduced Health Item Recharge time (0.5% per point)
  • Grenade Item Recharge time (0.5% per point).

As such, it offers the broadest range of defensive bonuses of any defense-focused Cyberware. Its effects are also largely ive, making this implant extremely useful in all combat encounters, including against tough bosses like Phantom Liberty’s Chimera war robot.

10 Epimorphic Skeleton – Skeleton Cyberware

More Health And Armor

Cyberpunk 2077 Epimorphic Skeleton New Cyberware

Much like the Cellular Adapter, the Epimorphic Skeleton Cyberware offers additional protection. Unlike the Cellular Adapter, however, the Epimorphic Skeleton is extremely basic. V receives extra health and a massive chunk of additional Armor (an impressive 190 Armor at Tier 5). It’s a solid choice for all builds, but players focused on getting up close and personal using a Blunt Bruiser build to benefit the most.

It’s also tuned to V’s Body stat and adds a few extra points of health based on that stat. However, even without this bonus, it’s still a fantastic all-around boost to V’s survivability.

9 Atomic Sensors – Nervous System Cyberware

Stay Stealthy With Additional Movement

Cyberpunk 2077 Atomic Sensors New Nervous System Cyberware

The Atomic Sensors Cyberware increases V’s movement speed relative to nearby enemy detection. Essentially, the closer V is to being detected by an enemy, the faster they move. It’s limited to a 56% boost to movement speed at 80% enemy detection, but it’s still one of the best choices for stealth-based builds in Cyberpunk 2077. The implant lets V use enemy detection to move even faster, executing stealth takedowns before enemies can respond.

While Cyberpunk 2077 is quite loud and flashy naturally, players can still use the shadows to cloak them in a world filled with neon lights.

It’s also tuned to V’s Cool Stat and adds an extra 0.2% to the headshot and weak spot damage for each point. V can use the Atomic Sensors to evade enemy detection and deal extra damage with their stealth headshots.

8 Heal-On-Kill – Circulatory System Cyberware

Regain Health From Killing Enemies

Cyberpunk 2077 Heal On Kill New Circulatory System Cyberware

Heal-On-Kill restores a small percentage of V’s health whenever they neutralize an enemy. Regardless of how V neutralizes an enemy, the health restoration effect triggers, so it works for most, if not all, builds, including Cyberpunk 2077’s best melee builds.

It’s worth noting that the Circulatory System has several open slots for additional Cyberware, so players can still install other Cyberware that fits their build. It’s also tuned to V’s Intelligence and slightly boosts damage. Unlike some Cyberware, which only fits certain specific builds, Heal-On-Kill is a general, all-purpose bonus that’s worth having in all of your playthroughs.

7 Monowire – Arms Cyberware

Use Razor-Thin Threads To Defeat Opponents

Cyberpunk 2077 Thermal Monowire New Arms Cyberware

All of Cyberpunk 2077's Arm Cyberware received some upgrades in the game’s latest update, but the Monowire is arguably the most improved. With it equipped, V can attack enemies with a spool of monofilament wire with a vicious cutting edge. It works best at short to medium ranges and can hit multiple enemies at once.

Anyone looking to equip the Monowire should pick the Jailbreak Relic Perk, one of the best new Perks to unlock after the update. This gives the Monowire a slot for installing a single quickhack, which triggers when V hits an enemy with a fully charged attack. The quickhack costs no RAM and can even spread to other enemies with the Data Tunneling Relic Perk.

The Monowire’s new quickhacking capabilities are excellent for anyone who wants to build Edgerunners’ Lucy in Cyberpunk 2077.

One big change you’ll notice is that the Monowire Cyberware now comes with different variants, including Thermal, Electrifying, and Toxic. These add extra elemental damage to V’s melee attacks.

6 Chitin - Integumentary System Cyberware

Regenerate Health Much Faster Than Usual

The cyberware menu in Cyberpunk 2077 showcasing the Chitin upgrade.

The Chitin cyberware found in update 2.0 is immediately good for any build, as it provides an astounding 200 Armor just for equipping it. This extremely durable subcutaneous shell acts as a great boost to your defense, reducing damage dealt by all weapons in Cyberpunk 2077.

Another benefit of the Chitin cyberware is how it gives you additional health regeneration, with up to 10% per Attribute Point you spend. This combination of greater protection and better healing works incredibly well for tank builds, making V almost impossible for basic enemies to take down.

5 Maxtech Mantis Blades - Arms Cyberware

Familiar Weapon With New Upgrades

One of the most iconic weapons in Cyberpunk 2077 is the Mantis Blades, the twin stabbing pieces of cyberware that act as a melee tool you can install into V. Mantis Blades slice and dice your enemies into many pieces, but changes in the 2.1 update make these sharp instruments even better. With the Blades, you can now lunge at targets to perform a finisher, increasing how mobile you are on the battlefield.

The Maxtech Mantis Blades are given to you by Mr. Hands, an NPC who hooks you up with this cyberware after completing a mission in the Phantom Liberty main story. When you raid a Maxtech stronghold, make sure to text Mr. Hands its location ahead of time to get these Mantis Blades.

The melee damage on the Maxtech brand of Mantis Blades is among the best this cyberware can offer, demolishing most enemies in only a few hits. New upgrades and perks can now be synergized with Mantis Blades, making them more brutal than ever before. When paired with other cyberware, the Mantis Blades can be all you ever need to wipe out enemy groups.
