With what is hopefully only the first season of Paramount+'s gritty crime series green-lighting of season 2.
Given the high-profile status and undoubtedly busy schedules of the show's major cast , including Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Janet McTeer, and Paddy Considine alongside Hardy, it could take some time for the next season to begin shooting. In the meantime, there are plenty of celebrated dramas that share thematic elements, actors, or styles with MobLand that are worth watching. The ten listed here are all available to stream at your leisure, and are sure to entertain anyone who enjoyed the action and drama of Ronan Bennett's MobLand.

Harry's Fate After MobLand Season 1 Finale Twist Confirmed By The Show's Creator
MobLand executive producer Jez Butterworth confirms Harry's fate after MobLand's season 1 finale twist, revealing what it means for his future.
10 Ray Donovan
MobLand's Roots Are In The Showtime Series
When MobLand was first announced, it was actually titled The Donovans, and was technically a spin-off of Showtime's acclaimed crime drama Ray Donovan. Starring Liev Schreiber as a fixer (exactly in the vein of Harry Da Souza) whose job is to execute the illegal activities of his clients, including bribes, threats, crime scene clean-ups, and more. The Emmy-nominated show ran for seven seasons and was followed by a movie in 2022, which concluded the overall narrative. The easiest way to describe it is MobLand if it focused almost exclusively on Harry.
9 Peaky Blinders
The Celebrated British Period Crime Drama Features Tom Hardy

Another widely-acclaimed gang drama, Peaky Blinders is one of Netflix's biggest hits, and it's technically still going. Starring Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy as gang boss Thomas Shelby, Peaky Blinders follows the exploits of the eponymous gang as they navigate the criminal underworld of post-WWI Birmingham. While the Peaky Blinders gang was a real youth gang active in Birmingham in the 1920s, the show is entirely fictional, and is not based on the real people or events associated with that gang.
Emmett J. Scanlan, who plays Harrigan enforcer (and comic relief character) Paul O'Donnell in MobLand, stars as recurring cast member Billy Grade in Peaky Blinders.
In addition to the gangland action, MobLand fans will recognize some of the most famous faces from the Paramount+ show in Peaky Blinders. Paddy Considine plays a priest in season 3 in a smaller role, while Tom Hardy plays the enigmatic Jewish gang leader Alfie Solomons, who is a main cast member from season 2 through season 7. While the Netflix show has concluded, there is a feature film on the way that will finish off the story, titled The Immortal Man, at some point in the near future.
8 Taboo
Tom Hardy Stars In The Gripping Period Drama
Another British period crime drama, Taboo stars Tom Hardy as an eclectic adventurer and businessman who returns home to London in 1814 after more than a decade living in Africa. The show features its own unique visual style that sets it apart from other crime dramas, but it does still explore political corruption, the criminal underworld, and shady business dealings in 19th-century London. Tom Hardy in particular was praised for his performance in the limited series, which should delight Harry Da Souza fans. It's also only eight episodes long, making it a great candidate for a quick binge-watch.
7 The Gentlemen
Netflix's Action Comedy Series By Guy Ritchie
In a reversal from shows like Ray Donovan and Peaky Blinders, The Gentlemen is actually a show that spun off from Guy Ritchie's 2019 film of the same name. The series is not a sequel to the movie, but it is set in the same general universe, and features some loose thematic connections but no character cross-over. Starring Theo James, the Netflix series follows a Duke and former United Nations peacekeeper who is thrust into the criminal underworld after he inherits his father's estate, which includes a marijuana empire.
Like MobLand, on which he served as an executive producer, The Gentlemen Netflix series brings that distinct Guy Ritchie flair that combines comedy, action, and drama.
In addition to James, it features a fun and talented cast that includes heavy-hitters like Ray Winstone, Giancarlo Esposito, and Vinnie Jones. Like MobLand, on which he served as an executive producer, The Gentlemen Netflix series brings that distinct Guy Ritchie flair that combines comedy, action, and drama. It's also another quick watch, as there has only been one season released so far (it was greenlit for a second season in summer 2024).
6 Gangs of London
The British Action Thriller Shares Many Traits With MobLand
Gangs of London might be the single most direct narrative comparison for MobLand, as it too chronicles the explosive exploits of various criminal organizations in modern-day London. However, the scope of Gangs of London is much bigger, and may actually be more along the lines of where MobLand is headed in season 2; it involves several international gangs all vying for control in the hub that is London. Starring Joe Cole, Colm Meaney, Michelle Fairley, and Lucian Msamati, Gangs of London just dropped its third season in March 2025, and has already been renewed for a fourth.
5 Landman
Taylor Sheridan's Drama Also Stars A "Fixer"

Venturing away from the streets of London, Taylor Sheridan's hit series Landman features plenty of action, shady business practices, and enough action to satisfy MobLand fans even if it's set in modern-day Texas. Billy Bob Thornton stars as the titular landman, Tommy Norris, who operates in a similar, if less aggressively illegal, role as a fixer of sorts for an oil company. The show is driven by a terrific performance from Billy Bob Thornton, but features plenty of other stars in excellent roles, including Jon Hamm, Demi Moore, and Ali Larter.

Prior to MobLand, series creator Ronan Bennett was at the helm of the British crime thriller series Top Boy. Starring Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson, Top Boy focuses on two drug dealers as they attempt to survive and thrive in the crime-ridden streets of Hackney, London. The dark drama deals with heavy themes, most notably the realities of social inequality and the struggles faced by those in disadvantaged communities.
Despite a ionate fanbase and solid ratings, the initial run of Top Boy was canceled after just two seasons in 2014. However, Canadian rapper Drake's ion for the show helped its audience spread, and he approached the creators and cast about reviving the show for a third season. Drake bought the rights to the show and brought it to Netflix, where it ran for three more seasons. For those who are interested in the action and intrigue of MobLand with a little more weight behind the narrative, Top Boy is a must-watch.

Fans of MobLand are all but certain to enjoy Kin, the Irish crime drama series that revolves around an Irish family caught up in a gangland war (yes, it is that narratively close to MobLand). Starring Charlie Cox (Daredevil: Born Again), Clare Dunn (The Last Duel), and Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), Kin was reportedly inspired by (but not necessarily based on) a real modern Irish gang war in Dublin. MobLand viewers will recognize Emmett J. Scanlan (Harrigan enforcer Paul O'Donnell) starring in the show as Jimmy Kinsella.
2 Yellowstone
Action, Violence And Drama In A Neo-Western Setting

- Showrunner
- Taylor Sheridan
Kevin Costner's neo-Western drama series Yellowstone takes some of MobLand's most entertaining elements and puts them in cowboy country. There is plenty of Western action to make up for the lack of gangland war explosions, and the family drama at the show's center will certainly rival that of the Harrigan clan in MobLand. While not as stylistically or thematically similar as some of the other shows on this list, Yellowstone should still appeal to MobLand fans who appreciate quality dramatic story-telling and larger-than-life characters with a disdain for the law.
1 Godfather of Harlem
A Compelling Drama Surrounding A Fictionalized 1960s Gang War

Your comment has not been saved
Forest Whitaker drives the American crime drama Godfather of Harlem, which sees him bring real-life 1960s NYC gangster Bumpy Johnson to life. While the show features a fictionalized version of the people and events around the real Bumpy Johnson's life, it does involve some depictions of real-world people, including Malcolm X, pastor Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., and famous mob boss Vincent "The Chin" Gigante of the Genovese crime family. Godfather of Harlem toeing the line of fiction vs. reality does nothing to dim the spectacle of gang war mayhem, and MobLand fans are sure to enjoy the drama at play.
