For over 30 years, Blink-182 have been redefining pop-punk music with their particular brand of irreverent, driving, and poignant hooks. With nine studio albums and numerous other releases, the band's list of hits, both commercial and niche, is extensive - still Blink-182 have not played at least one song off the album Take Your Pants Off and Jacket (TYPOAJ), in 23 years. However, thanks to a recent announcement by Mark Hoppus, that may be about to change.
Take Your Pants Off and Jacket was Blink-182's fourth studio album and a follow-up to their first commercial success, Enema of the State. Released on Interscope Records in 2001, TYPOAJ featured three top ten modern rock hit singles: "The Rock Show," "First Date," and "Stay Together for the Kids." TYPOAJ was also the first punk rock record to ever have songs chart at number one on the Billboard Top 200.
While the band has been perpetually performing since they formed in 1992, finding the opportunity to play every song they have ever written has not been possible. This leaves niche favorites like "Online Songs" out of rotation in favor of more radio-ready hits, a fact bemoaned by longtime Blink fans and deep-diving modern listeners alike.
Blink-182 Hasn't Played Online Songs Since 2001
Known for Playing Their Hits, Blink-182 Rotates Through Deep-Cuts Sparingly
According to live music aggregate site Setlist.fm, Blink-182's performance stats are staggering, with their top three most performed songs being "Dammit," "What's My Age Again?," and "All the Small Things," each of those songs coming in at over 790 plays or more. That being said, work from their earliest albums, and lesser-known favorites from their major label releases, are set aside to make way for their commercial favorites.

"Online Songs" is unique because it has been played live so few times, though it is a popular misconception that the song has never been played live. Blink have actually performed "Online Songs" just twice during the summer the album came out in 2001. That's a strange reality considering the song is written about Josie, the girlfriend from Dude Ranch and features blistering guitars, the epitome of Blink's percussive prowess, and one of Mark's most memorable vocal performances.
With fewer performances than some of the band's cover songs, fans have resigned to harping on "Online Songs" with no hope of ever hearing it live. However, that was until this fall when Blink bassist, co-vocalist, and co-founder Mark Hoppus broke the news that he would be interested in playing TYPOAJ live in its entirety.
Will There Be A Take Off Your Pants & Jacket Anniversary Tour?
In a Recent Twitch Stream, Mark Hoppus Said He Was Open To Playing It
Catching Blink-182 live has always been up to a bit of luck. With competitive side projects, internal tensions, and the ing of time, it is hard to predict just what the band will get up to year after year. In a Twitch stream from November, Hoppus said he would be interested in playing TYPOAJ in its entirety some time soon. But what does that mean?
All things point towards an anniversary tour. Blink-182 only plays albums in their entirety when celebrating milestone achievements, like 10 years of Untitled in 2003 or the 20th anniversary tour of Enema of the State in 2019. With no 20th anniversary tour for Untitled in 2023 and the band currently on some R&R after a few whirlwind years of touring, the facts seem ripe for an anniversary tour celebrating Hoppus's fourth favorite Blink-182 album's 25th anniversary.
Regardless of the reason Blink-182 have avoided "Online Songs," the time has come for one of pop-punk's notoriously underplayed gems. If history is any indicator, we should not be surprised by a TYPOAJ anniversary tour in 2026, or at the very least, a selection of shows with the band's fourth studio album at the forefront.
