The the Blue Beetle movie plot is being kept under wraps, a new look at Conrad Carapax, one of the central villains, recently came out, played by Raoul Max Trujillo. However, the character's live-action design has fans torn across Twitter and Reddit. Some argue that Conrad's look is extremely repetitive, with the DC movie repeating the idea of having the villain just look like an evil version of the main hero. However, some are giving Blue Beetle props for doing a comics' accurate depiction of the suit.
Everything We Know About Blue Beetle's Villains So Far
While more information will likely be revealed in future trailers and marketing promotions, Blue Beetle has confirmed a few details about their villains thus far. Conrad, who is one of Ted Kord's enemies in the comics, will be the physical threat to Jaime and can even be seen outside of his suit in the first Blue Beetle trailer. However, the bigger mystery foe in Blue Beetle is Susan Sarandon as Victoria Kord, who was initially an original creation for the film.
However, earlier this year, she made her debut in the comics, although it is unclear if the live-action incarnation will draw a lot from the recent books. Everything that is known so far about Victoria's role in the film is that she wants the alien scarab that ends up bonding with Jaime. It remains to be seen whether or not Victoria and Conrad are working together.
Hopefully, when Blue Beetle actually comes out, Conrad's armor will come with a few more surprises rather than feel like something audiences have already seen in other films. Even though they are sticking close to the source material, it is understandable that some may find his look not unique enough. But for now, time will tell what else Blue Beetle has in store for its leading hero and his multiple foes.
