How To Play Overdrive In Season 2
Gain Buffs To Keep Killstreaks Going
Overdrive is a twist on Team Deathmatch, where two teams can earn "Stars" to gain buffs that reset when they die. The longer you survive, the more Stars you are likely to accumulate as you slowly grow stronger and stronger. When you reach the maximum amount of buffs your Operator can have, you go into "Overdrive," where you earn double the Stars when eliminating enemies.

Call Of Duty: How To Turn Off Killcams & Kill Effects In Black Ops 6
Black Ops 6’s repetitive killcams and flashy kill effects have been divisive. Here’s how you can turn them off if you’d rather not see them.
There are a few ways you can earn Stars in Overdrive, including:
- 1 Star - Basic Eliminations (Body Shots, Explosives, Etc.)
- 2 Stars - Core Medal Eliminations (Headshots, Melee Attacks)
- 3 Stars - Distinguished Medal Eliminations (Takedowns)
Different maneuvers will earn you varying amounts of Stars, but your goal should always be to get as many as you can. As long as your Operator in CoD: Black Ops 6 can score eliminations, you should have little issue gaining some Stars over time. That being said, if you want buffs quickly, you need to get Stars through Medals more often than basic eliminations.
When you get eliminated during Overdrive, a timer starts when you revive. Those still "attempting Overdrive" have a limited amount of time to score an elimination to keep whatever Stars or buffs they have.
By getting all three Overdrive buffs, you'll start earning double the Stars from eliminations, allowing you to remain strong with every buff until you are killed or the match ends. The table below outlines all the buffs you can get by collecting Stars as you continue to pursue the Overdrive status:
# Of Stars Earned |
Buff |
Description |
---|---|---|
1 Star |
Awakened Senses |
See enemies through walls and replenish your health after eliminating a target. |
3 Stars |
Physical Enhancements |
Increased movement and reloading speed. |
6 Stars |
Augmented Handling |
Improved hip-fire accuracy and improved Sprint-To-Fire and Aim Down Sights speeds. |
How To Play Gun Game In Season 2
Cycle Between Different Weapons
The returning game mode for Season 2 is Gun Game, a type of match where players spawn with a new weapon every time they die. The starting weapon players get is determined from a cycling set of 20, testing the adaptability of even the most veteran soldiers. The selection of guns available changes from match to match, making it difficult to score eliminations if you aren't used to certain firearm types.
During Gun Game, a radar will frequently ping the top two performing players of a match, along with their progress toward victory. This gives players a good idea of who to target or who they need to catch up with.
Unlike standard Team modes, your goal is not to just score eliminations. To win Gun Game, you need to cycle through all 20 weapons available before anyone else can. Some weapons in CoD: Black Ops 6 are much easier to use, while others may take you some time to cycle through as a Gun Game match continues.
When you score an elimination during Gun Game, you cycle to the next weapon in the rotation. Your skills with each weapon will determine whether you are able to cycle through them quickly or slowly to eventually earn a victory. When you get eliminated, you fall back to the previous weapon you were on in the cycle, so dying less will allow you to progress faster throughout a match.
How To Play Third Wheel Gunfight In Season 2
Bring Along An Unfortunate Third
Third Wheel Gunfight is a new 3v3 mode where one extra player can matches normally reserved for two players. Those tired of pairs having all the fun of being together can be the awkward third wheel that participates in firefights with enemy teams of the same group size. Matches in this mode typically take place on smaller maps, making some feel crowded with the extra third players.
This is one of the two limited time modes, so don't expect Third Wheel Gunfight to always be available. Essentially a three-player Deathmatch, there's nothing too special about this mode other than the additional player added to your standard 2v2 game type.

What Is Event In Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6?
The Squid Games Event is coming with a lot of new skins, modes, and other features in Call of Duty Black Ops 6; and players should be ready.
Skill-Based Matchmaking, or SBMM in CoD: Black Ops 6 still applies to this mode like it would with any other, so pair up accordingly to determine the skill of the enemies you fight. This Valentine's Day-themed mode is one of the best to experience new maps in Season 2, especially the smaller Bullet or Lifeline environments on a bullet train and yacht respectfully.
How To Play Couples Dance Off In Season 2
Go Through Multiple 2v2 Playlists
The other limited-time Valentine's Day mode in Season 2 is Couples Dance Off, which brings back the intimacy of 2v2 matches. This mode allows you to pair up with one friend and go through multiple 2v2 game types together in a single queue. The multiple rule sets of the different 2v2 modes will lead to unique competition every time, so you and whoever you link up with will have to make constant adjustments.
Here are some of the 2v2 game types you can expect to see in Couples Dance Off:
- 2v2 Face Off
- Face Off Team Deathmatch
- Face Off Domination
- Face Off Kill Confirmed
Much like Third Wheel Gunfight, there are no additional rules you need to worry about in any of the 2v2 modes. New maps might be selectable in any of the never-before-seen game modes within Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, making each match an interesting challenge as you and your team learn to navigate fresh areas.
