Welcome to Marwen is a 2018 drama in which González plays Carlala, a friend of the main character, Mark (Steve Carell). The film follows the true story of Mark Hogancamp, who creates a fictional village to ease the effects of his PTSD. Though Welcome to Marwen includes one of Steve Carell's nicest characters, and it tells an undeniably compelling story, it struggles to maintain a consistent tone. Its creative animation sequences and strong performances make it worth a watch, but they don't do enough to overcome the overall disted nature of the production, hence the last place ranking.

Spirit Untamed is a 2021 animated adventure film that follows a young girl named Fortuna (Isabela Merced), who befriends a wild horse in the early 20th-century American West. The film makes use of some impressive animation and clever humor, making it a solid family-night type of film. Unfortunately, Spirit Untamed's characters fail to truly connect with the audience due to a lack of depth. It also struggles to establish a clear message and employs a fairly shallow narrative, likely contributing to its poor Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb scores.

Paradise Hills is a 2019 science fiction thriller about a woman named Uma (Emma Roberts), who is sent to a behavioral modification center for women who disappoint their families. Paradise Hills uses some truly stunning sets and costumes to create a breathtaking visual experience, and its thought-provoking narrative is unique and gripping. However, the film struggles with some clunky dialogue, and the story, though gripping, is inconsistent and somewhat awkwardly told. All in all, Paradise Hills is well-worth a spot in González's top 10 movies, but it's no masterpiece.

7 Fast And Furious Presents: Hobbs And Shaw — Released In 2019

Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is one of the most rewatchable Fast and Furious movies, thanks in part to the magnetic chemistry between Dwayne Johnson's Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw, not to mention a strong performance from González as Magarita, an accomplished thief. Visually, this is an exhilarating film, and it has plenty of humor to soften the constant stream of violence. Unfortunately, the formulaic plot lacks substance, and there is an excess of over-the-top action sequences that prevent it from ranking higher.

Ambulance is a 2022 heist thriller that follows a pair of adoptive brothers, Danny (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Will Sharp (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), who rob a bank and try to escape in an ambulance. González's Cam is a paramedic, taken hostage in the escape. As a film directed by Michael Bay, Ambulance provides the expected high-octane visual effects and frequent, almost non-stop, action sequences. It also has a rapid pace that makes it incredibly suspenseful, but the choppy storytelling and cheap dialogue leave plenty to be desired, dooming Ambulance to a mid-tier ranking.

I Care a Lot is a satirical thriller that follows Rosamund Pike's con-artist, Marla Grayson, as she tries to swindle the elderly mother of a mafia boss. This movie pulls off an artful blend of suspense and comedy, anchored by its superbly talented cast. The script is outstanding, providing an incredibly gripping narrative full of sharp dialogue and clever black humor. Overall, I Care a Lot is a powerfully dark and entertaining film, though its shocking twist ending has been commonly criticized. Even so, this is one of González's better films.

Cut Throat City is a 2020 heist film in which González's New Orleans Police Detective, Lucinda Valencia, is assigned to investigate a casino robbery. Fraught with tension right from the start, Cut Throat City strikes a strong balance between action and drama. Though Cut Throat City has some issues with uneven storytelling, it's a wildly entertaining ride and definitely one of González's best movies.

The 2019 cyberpunk action movie, Alita: Battle Angel, is another great entry in González's filmography. Following Rosa Salazar's title character, the film focuses on Alita's quest to uncover her destiny after awakening with no memory of her past. Alita: Battle Angel uses astonishing motion-capture animation that creates an eye-popping visual experience. It also benefits from some strong performances and a lot of entertainingly choreographed action sequences. These strong points are enough to overcome the generic story and watered-down characters, making Alita: Battle Angel very much worth watching.

Godzilla vs. Kong is one of the best films in the Monsterverse franchise, delivering an incredible spectacle as two of the most iconic monsters in the history of film face off. This thrilling visual masterpiece is utterly engrossing, and though it may not be thought-provoking or hiding some powerful, deeper meaning, it is undeniably entertaining. Godzilla vs. Kong is pure diversion, and any film capable of pulling audiences away from their lives so completely is worthy of recognition. That said, there is still one González movie even more entertaining than Godzilla vs. Kong.

González's best movie is, without a doubt, the 2017 action film, Baby Driver. The film follows a troubled young getaway driver named Miles (Ansel Elgort), who seeks to escape the life of crime with his girlfriend, Debora (Lily James). Baby Driver was nominated for three Academy Awards, and it was selected as one of the top films of the year by the National Board of Review. The movie is notable for combining classic action-movie elements with a more thoughtful and nuanced script than is commonly seen in the genre, resulting in an altogether fantastic film.
