HBO's hit teen drama starring Zendaya wrapped up season 2 in February 2022, and three years later, Euphoria season 3 news is trickling in. After first premiering in 2019, Euphoria season 2 was a long time coming with over two years between the first and second seasons (save for two special episodes focused on Zendaya's character Rue and Hunter Schafer's character Jules). Euphoria season 2 proved to be controversial even as its popularity skyrocketed, promoting fervent discussions of the show on social media about both behind-the-scenes drama and some of the creative decisions made throughout its run.

Euphoria season 2 picks up sometime after the events of the season 1 finale, with Rue having relapsed and still estranged from her (now ex-) girlfriend Jules after she left her at the train station. Jules is unaware that Rue has relapsed even though it's instantly clear that things aren't right. Where Euphoria goes from here remains unclear as the season 2 ending doesn't paint the clearest picture of what the show's future could look like. Despite these flaws, the confidence with which the show operates indicates that Euphoria season 3 could top its predecessor.

BTS Video Reveals Cassie's Wedding

Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) looks up with a shocked look on her face in Euphoria

With work progressing on the long-awaited third season, the latest news comes in the form of BTS video from Euphoria season 3. The clip was provided by X (formerly Twitter) @euphoriacentral and it shows Sydney Sweeney's Cassie walking down the aisle in a wedding dress. It's unclear exactly who she's marrying, but production design details show the initials "C&N". This implies she'll be tying the knot with Nate, though nothing is confirmed yet. Then again, it could also be a dream sequence which the show has employed before.

Euphoria Season 3 Production Status

Filming Began In February 2025

the longer it takes for Euphoria season 3 to materialize, the less and less the audience is likely to stick around.

Even though Euphoria season 3 was greenlit by HBO back in 2022, that doesn't mean it'll be released any time soon. Amid delays due to scheduling, and losing most of 2023 due to the Hollywood strikes, it has now been revealed that Euphoria season 3 won't return until 2026. HBO has yet to provide a more specific release window at this time.

The first positive piece of news regarding season 3 came in July 2024 with the announcement that the new episodes begin filming in January 2025. HBO chief Casey Bloys emphatically confirmed the January 2025 shooting date in a statement from November 2024, and he revealed that season 3 will have eight episodes. Unfortunately, the longer it takes for Euphoria season 3 to materialize, the less and less the audience is likely to stick around. Shooting was announced in the early days of February 2025, but no timeline has been revealed.

The WGA and SAG/AFTRA strikes ran from May to November 2023 and resulted in many TV and movie productions being delayed or put on hold.

The actress revealed why she left, saying (via Cinema Blend):

"I think my character, who I love so dearly, I don't think there was a place for her to go. … I think there were places she could have gone. I just don't think it would have fit into the show. I just don't know if it was going to do her justice."

While it's unclear where some characters are headed - Rue seems to be on a path of redemption, but there is also a hint that she might relapse - there are relationships that need following up on. Season 3 will also see a time jump that takes the characters out of the high school setting, though it's unclear where they will end up next.

Angus Cloud's ing will likely necessitate some story changes to for his absence.

From Fez's downfall and his response to the death of Ashtray, to Cassie and Maddy's relationship (and the former's romance with Nate), there's plenty to mine for Euphoria season 3. However, Angus Cloud's ing will likely necessitate some story changes to for his absence.
