The door has been opened for more characters from Fox's Marvel movies to return in Deadpool 3. The third feature film starring Ryan Reynolds as the Regenerating Degenerate and the first to be officially set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Deadpool 3 was already confirmed to feature High Jackman returning to the role of Wolverine. This, coupled with the current multiverse shenanigans plaguing the MCU, has inspired speculation as to what other characters might make an appearance.
The announcement that Jennifer Garner was returning as Elektra has only further fueled the fires of theorization. Rumors were already running rampant, thanks to reports from various actors who did not deny being part of the movie.. With that in mind, here's a run down of those characters from Fox's Marvel movies who are most likely to appear in Deadpool 3.
15 Professor X
The leader of the X-Men, Sir Patrick Stewart's Professor X is perhaps the most likely candidate for a Deadpool 3 cameo. Stewart has already played Charles Xavier in the MCU once, appearing as a variant Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Additionally, Stewart has teased his involvement with the film, stating in a Februrary 2023 interview with comicbook.com, that he had been told to standby for another MCU appearance. While that isn't a direct confirmation he is in Deadpool 3, it is the only MCU film in production with an obvious role for Professor X.
14 Magneto
The Master of Magnetism, played in the first three X-Men movies by Sir Ian McKellen, is another strong possibility for a Deadpool 3 cameo. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Patrick Stewart hinted at a reunion between his Professor X and McKellen's Magneto in the MCU, saying that he and McKellen were "not done" playing the classic frienemies and that the two "have plans." Again, while Deadpool 3 was not mentioned, it is the most obvious avenue for such a reunion.
13 Storm
Played by Halle Berry in the first three X-Men movies, Ororo "Storm" Munroe is one of the most powerful Mutants on any Earth, capable of controling the weather around her. In May 2023, Berry posted a picture of herself on Twitter, revealing a new short haircut, with her hair dyed white. Given that Berry sported a similar style when she played Storm, this has been taken as a tease she might be playing the part again in Deadpool 3.
12 Jean Grey
One of the founding X-Men, Jean Grey was played by Famke Janssen in five different X-Men movies. Janssen addressed the possibility of her return in a May 2023 interview with MovieWeb, stating that while appearing in the MCU was not a priority for her, she was also not opposed to playing Jean Grey once again. Janssen noted that "...in that universe, anyone -- multiverses, whatever -- can happen," suggesting her appearing in Deadpool 3 is a possibility.
11 Cyclops
Given how infamously uptight the X-Men's field leader is, it's surprising Cyclops hasn't shown up in a Deadpool movie to be mocked by Wade Wilson before now, apart from one quick cameo alongside other X-Men in Deadpool 2. It's also easy to see how Logan and Deadpool could team-up to irritate Scott Summers in Deadpool 3. Additionally, actor James Marsden, who played Cyclops in the first three X-Men movies, confirmed in an interview with The Wrap that he would be interested in returning to the role depending on "what the story is."
10 Mystique
The shape-shifting Mysttique was one of the more interesting Evil Mutants in Fox's X-Men films, though she was made into more of an anti-hero when played by Jennifer Lawrence in the prequel films. Both she and Rebecca Romijn had a rough time with the extensive make-up the role required, making it unlikely that either one would want to reprise the role for a quick cameo in Deadpool 3. However, the fact that Mystique is a shape-shifter means virtually anyone could play the role, with Wade Wilson explaining the recast by breaking the fourth wall to note that CGI is expensive or that they can't afford J-Law anymore.
9 Psylocke
Olivia Munn played the psychic ninja Psyclocke in X-Men: Apocalypse. Despite the relative brevity of her part, Munn's performance was well-received, and many hoped she might agree to reprise the role in Deadpool 2, given Psylocke's prominent position on the X-Force team in the comics. Amusingly, Munn had been offered the role of Vanessa in the first Deadpool, but turned it down because she didn't want to play the hero's girlfriend. A role for Psyclocke in Deadpool 3 could give her the action she hoped for and a place in the MCU.
8 Daredevil
Before he became the Batman of the DCEU, Ben Affleck broke into superhero movies as the star of the 2003 Daredevil movie. With Jennifer Garner, who played his love interest Elektra before getting her own spin-off film, returning to the role in Deadpool 3, it would be fitting if Affleck also returned as Matt Murdock. If nothing else, there are so many jokes Wade Wilson can make about how the MCU got Ben Affleck back before DC Studios.
7 Foggy Nelson
While Jon Favreau is best known today as a director and for playing Happy Hogan in the MCU, he also played Matt Murdock's best friend and law partner, Franklin "Foggy" Nelson in the 2003 Daredevil movie. While his part was fairly minor, there's too much comedy potential for Favreau not to film a cameo in Deadpool 3. Either there could be some confusion about Deadpool calling him Happy instead if Foggy, or Wade could break the fourth wall by pestering Foggy with questions about the next season of The Mandalorian.
6 Mister Fantastic
Played by Ioan Gruffudd in the first two Fox Fanastic Four movies and Miles Teller in the 2015 Fantastic Four, Reed Richards is the only member of the Fantastic Four to have an existence presence in the MCU. With John Krasinski confirming he hasn't talked to Marvel Studios about a return to the role, the door is open for one of the earlier Mister Fantastic actors to return in Deadpool 3 before a new MCU Fantastic Four appears in 2025.
