MGM+'s horror series From's talented cast and great direction have received a lot of praise.

From season 3's ending and shocking death may have been the biggest yet. While fans will likely be waiting until 2026 for From season 4, another MGM+ series may be able to satisfy viewers in the meantime.

From's Executive Producer Jack Bender Is Directing MGM+'s The Institute Adaptation

Bender Has Directed Some Great Shows Before

Jack Bender has had a very successful career thus far, but most recently, he has become known for his work on the MGM+ series From. Bender has served as an executive producer for the series, and, throughout its three seasons, he has directed 14 of its 30 episodes. The horror series has been a huge hit so far, with its direction often cited as a positive aspect of the series. Bender is crucial to that positive reception, and From is far from the only impressive series in his filmography.

In addition to directing nearly half of From's episodes, Bender is also known for his considerable work on Lost, Alias, The Sopranos, and two acclaimed episodes of Game of Thrones.

In addition to directing nearly half of From's episodes, Bender is also known for his considerable work on Lost, Alias, The Sopranos, and two acclaimed episodes of Game of Thrones. Over the course of his career, Bender has received multiple Emmy Award nominations. In short, his involvement with the new adaptation of Stephen King's The Institute is something for From fans to get excited about, especially considering Bender's work often perfectly captures supernatural and horror elements.

The Institute Can Give MGM+ Another From-Style Horror Hit

From Has Often Been Compared To Stephen King's Works

Throughout its three seasons, From has often been compared to Stephen King's works, and even King himself has praised From. Given that King has expressed his of the horror series before, it is certainly promising that Bender is now involved in adapting The Institute, especially considering the two shows likely appeal to the same audiences. The Institute's plot may be favorably compared to another hit series, Stranger Things, though it is ittedly much darker in tone, fitting with King's usual subject matter.

Stephen King's 2019 horror novel The Institute is getting a miniseries adaptation from MGM+, and there's already a ton of exciting updates.

The horror series will center on a boy named Luke Ellis who has telekinetic powers and is kidnapped and taken to a place known as The Institute. There, he is surrounded by other children and teens who have similar telekinetic or telepathic powers who are being experimented on by the doctors at the facility. Like From's characters, Luke and those around him are constantly searching for an escape and wondering what exactly their powers are being used for, creating an intriguing mystery that will keep viewers hooked.

The Institute Isn't Jack Bender's First Stephen King Show

Bender Has Worked With King's Material Twice Before

Beyond being no stranger to horror shows, Bender is also a veteran when it comes to working on Stephen King's material specifically. Before beginning work on From, Jack Bender worked on two Stephen King adaptations: Under the Dome and Mr. Mercedes. Similar to From, Under the Dome follows a group of people who suddenly become trapped in their town by a mysterious dome, forcing them to learn to survive on their own while those outside attempt to break the barrier and understand what caused it.

Bender further directed numerous episodes of Mr. Mercedes and served as an executive producer for the series. Like Under the Dome, the crime drama series received positive reviews, highlighting the talents of those involved. Though some changes to source material are often necessary to transfer works to the screen, Bender's involvement in two successful Stephen King adaptations makes me hopeful that The Institute will not disappoint and add another impressive addition to the From director's filmography.
