Unfortunately, Price's digging catches the attention of someone unhappy with Donovan's investigation. He narrowly survives an assassination attempt and finds a who can lead him directly to Alexei. The boy has been hidden away in a small Russian town that serves as a prison for the government to disappear specific individuals. Alexei is waiting for Donovan, but the journalist has to sneak through the eerie town to find him.
There's a lot packed into the first issue of Indigo Children, but it's not overwhelming. The mystery is presented in a slow but satisfying way, showing off Alexei's power and what he's capable of, leading readers to wonder where he went and who could be controlling him. The mystery is also very gripping and aided by dialogue that is engaging and, at times, humorous. But the book's biggest strength has got to be Diotto's line work and Cunniffe's colors.
