The artist behind the Invincible comic series has officially confirmed his favorite "Alternate Mark Grayson" from the series is "Mohawk Mark." The inclusion of the Alternate Marks in the Amazon TV adaptation of the comic has sparked a renewed interest in the characters, as new fans are introduced to the Robert Kirkman story's take on the Multiverse concept.
Posting on X, Invincible artist Ryan Ottley responded to a fan question, stating that Mohawk Mark "was and still is" his pick for the stand-out alt-Mark.
The army of Alternate Mark Graysons, who invade the main character's timeline, are among the most thrilling characters in the Invincible franchise. More than just providing one of the series' most dangerous threats ever, the characters also served to highlight the narrow path the good Mark must follow in order to remain a hero, and not succumb to villainy.
Invincible Artist Ryan Ottley On Why "Mohawk Mark" Is His #1 Pick Among The Franchise's Alt-Marks
Ottley Settled The Debate On Social Media
Ryan Ottley designed the alt-Marks, and lately he has been having fun engaging with fans on social media talking about the characters, including sharing original concept art and unused designs from the Invincible comic. His declaration that "Mohawk Mark" is his favorite elicited engagement from both readers who have been with the franchise for the long haul, and new fans just discovering Mark Grayson and his alternate in animated form, many of whom chimed in to share their own personal favorites.

Invincible Critics Who Are Unhappy About the TV Show's Changes Just Got a Reality Check
Invincible fans everywhere are divided over the revamped look of Dr. Angstrom Levy, some are going so far as to ask if it actually hurts the TV show.
As Ottley described Mohawk Mark, the variant has a harder edge to him than most other Mark variants – and not just because of his punk-inspired aesthetic, but because of the dangerous demeanor that his design seems to radiate in every aspect. This has also led some fans to suggest the alt-Marks, including Mohawk Mark, would be perfect for a "What If...?" style series, or series of one-shots, which could explore Marks from across the Multiverse in much greater detail, in the context of their own continuities.
The "Invincible" Universe Deserves To Expand, And The Alt-Marks Would Be A Great Starting Point
Fans Want More "Mohawk Mark" & Other Variants
The success of the Invincible TV adaptation has renewed calls for further comic book spin-offs of the long-running indie superhero story, through which did for post-apocalyptic horror with The Walking Dead. The fictional universe of Invincible is expansive, but it has long been overdue for expansion – and the alt-Marks, including Ryan Ottley's favorite, Mohawk Mark, would be natural candidates for further stories, given their exciting recontextualization of the franchise's hero, and their legitimately limitless narrative possibilities.
It would make a great deal of sense for Image Comics to capitalize on their appeal...by offering a new generation of Invincible comic book titles in print, perhaps beginning with the story of Mohawk Mark.
As expected, given the pivotal role they play in the franchise's lore, the animated alt-Marks are quickly becoming fan-favorites among show-only Invincible fans, and they already want more; while their comic book appearances will offer some measure of satisfaction in that regard, it would make a great deal of sense for Image Comics to capitalize on their appeal – and more generally, the success of the show – by offering a new generation of Invincible comic book titles in print, perhaps beginning with the story of Mohawk Mark.
