James Tynion IV Has a Huge Comics Resume

Something Is Killing the Children was first released as a limited run series in 2019 by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'edera. However, it instantly gained a following, branching out into additional issues, a side story with Book of Slaughter, and now an entire “Slaughterverse,” with Book of Butcher. Netflix is developing a live action series, originally with Midnight Mass’s Mike Flanagan, but now helmed by the two creators of Dark and 1899. Seeing the very early beginnings to the hit universe is an exciting prospect for any horror fan, even if they haven’t yet read the original comic.

James Tynion IV has racked up an impressive career for someone only 36 years old. He got his start under the mentorship of Scott Snyder, who at the time was penning Batman’s “Night of the Owls” story. Tynion’s big break came from writing backup stories for this arc, which led to him getting his own spin-off series with Talon, co-led by Snyder. Since then, his star has only risen, netting him multiple Eisners and GLAAD Awards for works like the DC Black Label horror series Nice House on the Lake, and a slew of creator-owned independent comics.
