The Jurassic World: Dominion. The film brought to a conclusion the arc of Owen Grady and Claire Dearing dealing with the release of dinosaurs into the world, which was set across seven years and three films.

Fortunately for fans, there are several other films that they can enjoy once they’re done with the Jurassic World series. These range from straight-up action movies like Taken with similar fight choreography as Jurassic World to big-budget monster films like Kong: Skull Island, which contain creatures like dinosaurs. It’s interesting to see how all these movies can entertain Jurassic World fans in their own way.

In the Heart of Sea

The Jurassic World films have featured Owen and Claire battling the Indominus Rex and Indoraptor as creatures with kill streaks. In the Heart of the Sea has a giant whale that fulfills much of the same role, with the film detailing the sinking of the ship Essex in 1820 when its crew encounter a mysterious whale.

Jurassic World has been about manmade disasters when they overreach their abilities in regards to their control of the dinosaurs. In the Heart of the Sea has a similar outline of humans bringing the disaster on themselves, as the protagonists go out looking for the whale before it decides to hunt them in return.

Newt Scamander pets a Thunderbird in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

There are plenty of Fantastic Beasts, but Jurassic World is similar in the way both franchises concern creatures that need to be captured. The first movie sticks close to Jurassic World the most, with the film featuring protagonist Newt Scamander as he attempts to recapture the magical creatures he’s lost over the course of a night.

Jurassic World teaches viewers to treat animals with respect without taking advantage of them, which is what Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them also has in store. The people in Newt’s company come to respect how he shows care for the creatures, although there’s a lot of magical fun to check out along the way.

Bryan Mills shows Marko a picture in Taken

While there are no dinosaurs or any kind of creature in Taken, it’s actually quite similar to Jurassic World Dominion. The latter film’s primary story is about rescuing Maisie Lockwood, with her parents Claire and Owen circumnavigating the globe and battling bad guys to find her.

In the same vein, Taken features Bryan Mills heading to Europe to locate his kidnapped daughter, uncovering clues that lead to her location. The action has Liam Neeson taking down bad guys through his unique set of skills and Bryan’s characterization is along the same lines as Owen’s, in that they’re both steely-eyed heroes.

Before fans were clamoring for Journey to the Center of the Earth plays it straight with its title, featuring Fraser’s character heading to the Earth’s core and finding a world hidden deep within.

Jurassic World fans will get a kick out of the presence of a Giganotosaurus, which was the villain in Jurassic World Dominion. It fulfills the same purpose in Journey to the Center of the Earth, as the dinosaur stalks the protagonist constantly and they need to figure out a way to overcome its threat to return to the surface.

Optimus Prime with Sam Witwicky in Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

Jurassic World Dominion had the world figuring out how to live alongside dinosaurs and the protagonists uncovering the conspiracy behind Lewis Dodgson’s use of the locusts. Transformers: Dark of the Moon also has humans with hidden agendas that ally with the Decepticons to cause an invasion of Earth by the villainous robots.

Despite the lack of dinosaurs, Jurassic World fans will enjoy the film’s big-budget action sequences where the protagonists have to evade capture by the Decepticons and find a way to beat these massive enemies. The presence of the benevolent Autobots levels the field for a large-scale action extravaganza.

Skullcrawler In The Kong Graveyard - Kong: Skull Island

There was a genre shift in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, where the Indoraptor’s menacing personality turned the events into a horror film. Kong: Skull Island has a similar feel with the presence of monsters like the Skullcrawler along with the inclusion of King Kong himself.

The story is about a group of humans on an expedition to the titular island where they find their numbers dwindling when the terrifying creatures begin to hunt them down. It’s a scary and entertaining film that has larger-than-life animals that can also be found in Jurassic World.

A jeep next to a tornado in Twister

Released at a time when disaster movies and sci-fi features were on the rise because of Jurassic Park’s success, Twister has some great sequences to behold. It’s about a group of tornado chasers who attempt to launch a device into the tornado to understand how twisters work.

Jurassic Park writer Michael Crichton also wrote the screenplay for Twister and the presentation of the film is relatively similar. Jurassic World fans will mainly enjoy the protagonists for the way the lead pair has the same romantic dynamic as Claire and Owen do, with their adventure against the tornado bringing them close.

People in water with a snake in Anacondas The Hunt For The Blood Orchid

There are some creature features with incredible replay value, with this being part of the experience. Anaconda 2 is more visceral than its predecessor, as the kills are creative and the pacing leads to the characters’ confrontation with the titular snakes in a dangerous forest.

Jurassic World films have taken liberties with the way it’s presented the dinosaurs’ enhanced intelligence and Anaconda 2 also has snakes that defy logic. It’s a breezy feature that doesn’t waste time on heavy-handed storytelling and the protagonist’s personality is much like Owen’s is in Jurassic World.

Jaws (1975)

Shark trying to eat people in Jaws

Steven Spielberg is responsible for making both Jurassic Park and Jaws the cultural phenomenon they are. Interestingly, it’s Jurassic World that’s closer to Jaws since both have creatures that are specifically hunting down the humans by trapping them in a confined space.

Jaws has a man-eating shark attacking people at the beach, which prompts a team to try and slay it before it gets too dangerous - the backfire of this plan is the crux of Jaws’ story. It’s a horror-thriller that has stood the test of time and should be good to entertain Jurassic World fans.
