P's massive new expansion, Overture, is out today, so fans can jump back into the world of Krat now. Lies of P delighted Souls fans with its gothic atmosphere, stellar presentation, engaging combat, and its high difficulty. The DLC had been announced for a while, but besides "summer 2025," we never got an official release date. And now, we don't need one, as fans can boot up their console or PC right now and the extensive add-on.

As revealed during the Summer Game Fest live stream on thegameawards YouTube channel, Lies of P: Overture is available for now. The DLC is priced at $29.99 USD, and fans must own the base game to play it. The DLC is a prequel to the base game's story.

A Whole New Challenge For Players

Players will need the base game to play the DLC, and it will introduce new weapons, new skills, new cosmetics, and a new story about the events leading up to the puppet frenzy attack on Krat in the main game. The DLC is reportedly around 10 hours long, roughly a third of the size of the base game.

Lies of P has two weapon systems. Standard weapons can be mixed to make something unique. Boss Ergo can instead be made into special full weapons.

Lies of P: Overture is set to be accessible to players who may find Soulslikes too challenging, as well as offer the base game's iconic difficulty and then some. As a free update, both the base game and Overture will introduce difficulty options, breaking away from a long-standing tradition of Souls and Soulslikes not having a selectable difficulty and forcing players to learn and overcome their obstacles. There will also be a new, harder difficulty for Lies of P veterans.

Our Take: Overture Looks Like A Great Trip Back To Krat

Lies Of P Is An Outstanding Game

Lies of P: Overture appears to be more Lies of P, and that is a great thing. Even better, fans don't have to wait any longer and can play it today. And even greater than that, potential fans that may have liked the setting and ideas of Lies of P but were intimidated by the difficulty, can also play on an easier difficulty, making Lies of P one of the best entry points for Soulslikes.

With around 10 new hours of content to an already lengthy game, plus a new boss rush mode, two new difficulties, and several new weapons, Lies of P is a gift that keeps on giving. Overture will surely please those who have been waiting since 2023, and hopefully, even more players will be interested in the game with its new difficulty options. Either way, the wait is finally over for Overture.
