Few Other Manga Have Pulled Off Such a Feat Before

Demon Slayer achieved the feat back in February 2020 with volume 19, which sold an estimated 1.378 million copies.

My Hero Academia Reaches Massive Milestone & Enters an Exclusive Club
My Hero Academia's manga has just ed the ranks of legendary series as it es 100 million copies in circulation.
While only a handful of manga have reached 100 million copies in circulation as a whole, even fewer have managed to find such overwhelming success in their first week of release, with Kohei Horikoshi being the latest to achieve both these milestones in 2024. What's more impressive is that these numbers only for the sales in Japan. With a huge chunk of My Hero Academia's fan base being international, the total sales numbers will most likely skyrocket once more when the final volume is eventually released overseas.
My Hero Academia's Volume Exclusive Epilogue Likely Contributed to Its Success
Besides containing the conclusion to the series, My Hero Academia's final volume also surprised fans with an additional epilogue chapter. This epilogue has not been released digitally, which may be a huge reason why volume 42 sold as many copies as it did so quickly. Though the series' original 430 chapters did provide a satisfying conclusion, the new epilogue promised plenty of exciting revelations, such as Class 1-A's adult designs as well as much-needed resolutions to plotlines such as Deku and Uraraka's relationship and Dabi's fate. Other than beautifully wrapping up any remaining loose threads, it seems the sheer curiosity surrounding the epilogue also provided enough incentive to drive My Hero Academia's final volume sales to reach an all-new record.
