A creative Minecraft fan decided to give the game’s desert temple a simple redesign, building an impressive new pyramid while still keeping true to its vanilla roots. The desert pyramid (often referred to as the desert temple) is a structure containing loot that can be found by Minecraft players in the desert biome.

Minecraft's Caves & Cliffs Part 1 introduced new features in the form of new blocks, gear, and mobs, including the Axolotl and Goat.

Reddit lysxander showed off their architectural prowess, posting a clip of their redesigned Minecraft desert temple. While the Redditor tried to keep their desert pyramid close to the vanilla game’s style, some slight changes were made. Much of the inside of the temple was kept the same, with one exception: the area marking the entrance to the treasure chamber was created using copper blocks. While the original desert temple utilizes terracotta, lysxander opted for the use of copper, which is a much more vibrantly colored block in comparison. The outside of the desert pyramid featured the biggest redesigns, with the entrance to the temple now including a series of steps leading up to the doors, which are marked with a copper archway.

These steps are separated by a carved Creeper’s face made out of sandstone, with the details of its face marked with copper blocks. The towers connected to the pyramid were also redesigned slightly, with the top of the towers now featuring battlements, and the ankh shapes on its sides given much more definition. Although the desert temple has been unchanged since its release in 2012, lysxander’s upgraded design of the sandy structure utilizes Minecraft's newly added copper blocks, introduced with the Caves & Cliffs Part 1 update, giving the build an updated feel.

Lysxander’s simple redesign of Minecraft’s desert temple is a wonderful new take on Mojang’s creation, while still keeping the structure true to its original style. The temple will no doubt be even more splendid to behold once the copper blocks eventually begin to oxidize, giving the building an aged and ancient feel. With Minecraft’s Caves and Cliffs Part 2 coming soon, creative players will have a lot more materials to inspire their creativity, allowing for more opportunities for players to refresh existing structures.
