The following contains spoilers for Mission: Impossible 8.

Tom Cruise earns a Guinness World Record for his parachute stunt in Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning. The eighth and latest installment in the action franchise has been known for featuring daring and dangerous sequences since its release on May 23. From wing-walking to risky underwater submarine scenes, the four-time Academy Award nominee has managed to pull off near-impossible stunts as he reprises his role as highly skilled secret agent, Ethan Hunt.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Cruise has broken a world record for the most burning parachute jumps by an individual, for having jumped out of a helicopter with a fuel-soaked parachute and set it on fire 16 times. For the scene, the actor pre-soaked the parachute and lit it ablaze midair. He would then cut the burning fabric and deploy a second chute for landing. Check out the behind-the-scenes footage below:

Cruise's behind-the-scenes footage offers a glimpse at the danger, hard work, and attempts that went into capturing the flaming parachute scene in the eighth Mission: Impossible movie. Cruise's dedication and daredevil work ethic are what made the Mission: Impossible franchise iconic and rare. The eighth installment only saw him pushing the envelope harder and fiercer, instead of backing away from the dangerous stunt.
