Reporting to Murtabak in monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds, you can obtain requested items from him.
Overall, Murtabak is a good source to obtain an extra number of valuable items, including Herbs, Honey, Sleep Herbs, and much more. Later on, these items can be used to craft indispensable items for your hunts, such as Potions, Mega Potions, and Tranq Bombs. This NPC can help you spend less time farming these resources on the map in Monster Hunter Wilds and focus on the hunt – though he is related to a special quest called Continuing Conflict, which can have him reward you with special prizes that will further help your hunts.
Where To Find Murtabak (Location)
The NPC Is Located In The Windward Plains Region
Finding this NPC is relatively simple, but he may not be available at all times depending on what point you are in the game. Murtabak is a member of the Kunafa Windsong Village, located in the Windward Plains region of the map. For reference, this is the first tribe you encounter after you meet Nata and head out to explore the Forbidden Lands. As part of the game’s living world, this NPC is not necessarily always in the same spot, but roaming across Kunafa in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Monster Hunter Wilds Review: Heading In A Bold New Direction, With One Or Two Missteps
Monster Hunter Wilds is a lushly beautiful and ceaselessly thrilling entry in the series, but its performance and on-rails story can be distracting.
Murtabak can be found walking in the central area of Kunafa Village. If you have unlocked his presence by progressing to and through Chapter 4 of the game, he should appear not only in the area, but on the map, represented by a small icon that indicates he is the NPC responsible for the Material Retrieval feature. While this is his main role as an NPC, Murtabak can also give you a Side Mission called Continuing Conflict, which will set you to hunt a Tempered Rathian and Tempered Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds.
All Continuing Conflict Quest Rewards
You Can Claim Rewards From The Optional Quest & Side Mission From Murtabak
Upon taking on the Continuing Conflict Side Mission from Murtabak in Kunafa Village, you will also unlock an Optional Quest that has the same name. To tackle it and face the aforementioned monsters, you will need to speak to Alma and pick up Continuing Conflict from the Optional Quest tab. After that, proceed to take down the Tempered Rathian and Tempered Quematrice in the single hunt set in the Windward Plains. This quest alone should provide you with a set of possible rewards, based on drops.
The list below shows the possible rewards from the Continuing Conflict Optional Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Rathian Certificate S
- Rathian Scale +
- Rathian Carapace
- Rathian Webbing
- Rathian Spike +
- Rath Medulla
- Inferno Sac
- Rathian Ruby
- Quematrice Certificate S
- Quematrice Scale +
- Quematrice Hide +
- Quematrice Igniter +
- Quematrice Crest +
- Quematrice Tail
- Wyvern Gem
- Hunter Symbol I
- Advanced Armor Sphere
- Glowing Orb - Sword
- Glowing Orb - Armor
- Damaged Weapon Shard
- Carbalite Ore
- Quality Bone
Once the Optional Quest is completed, you will have to manually complete the Continuing Conflict Side Mission given by Murtabak. This will require you to return to Kunafa Village after your successful hunt to converse with him. To optimize your time, use the Fast Travel function to teleport to Kunafa and open the local map to see Murtabak’s current location within the village. Upon completing the Continuing Conflict Side Mission, he will give you fixed rewards, which, unlike the Optional Quest, are independent of drop rates from monsters.
The list below shows all the rewards from the Continuing Conflict Side Mission upon reporting to Murtabak in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- 3 Sharp Kunafa Cheese
- 20 Thunderbug Capacitors
Although you can obtain Sharp Kunafa Cheese from a few quests in the game, this is a fairly rare item. Other than selling it for 300 Zenny, its only other usage is as an ingredient for meals. If Sharp Kunafa Cheese is added to a meal you cook in Monster Hunter Wilds, your dish will grant you the Defender Meal (Hi) food skill, a buff that can occasionally reduce the damage you take. The Thunderbug Capacitors can either be sold for 80 Zenny each or used with Normal Ammo to craft Thunder Ammo.
Overall, the rewards for the Continuing Conflict Side Mission aren’t the most generous in the game, but they could help a lot, especially as they could be considered bonuses to the Continuing Conflict Optional Quest. As such, it’s merely a matter of finding Murtabak in Kunafa Windsong Village to unlock the hunt and then returning to him to conclude his Side Mission in Monster Hunter Wilds.
