The PS5 remaster of announced earlier this month, along with a remaster of the sequel, Nioh 2, and all the DLC for both games. These will be launching on February 5th, following the release of the third and final DLC expansion for Nioh 2 in December.

Nioh is a "Souls-like," a title heavily inspired by the brutal combat and RPG progression of the Demon's Souls has been taking the gaming world by storm as a standout launch title for the PlayStation 5.

These remasters provide an excellent opportunity for Souls-like players to expand their libraries on next-gen consoles, and, as reported by Twinfinite, they come with an added twist. The original Nioh is adding a brand new photo mode so that players can adequately chronicle their epic struggles against the demons that plague feudal Japan. Koei Tecmo announced the new feature on the 27th, and even included a screenshot so that fans can get an idea of how it will work. This is following a slight trend of next-gen Souls-likes having a photo mode. The new photo mode in Demon's Souls can even be exploited, as it lets the player pause the game, an unprecedented move in From Software's RPGs.

Photo modes and screenshots are definitely growing in significance in the modern gaming world. As players connect more over social media and the internet, it makes sense for them to want to record their experiences and memories and share them with others. To cater to this desire, Nintendo has recently released an update which allows fans to transfer their Switch screenshots to smart devices, a feature that has been sorely needed for a long time now.

There's a lot to look forward to with these next-gen remasters. Nioh and its sequel were already standout titles in the burgeoning Souls-like genre, and they're sure to be even more thrilling experiences when experienced with 4k resolution and the nonexistent load times that the PS5 and its competitor the Xbox Series X are so famous for. It's good to know that as fans dive into these excellent titles, they'll be able to pause and record their struggles with the push of a button.
