In September 2021, a massive game list leak from NVIDIA revealed tons of unannounced game projects, and after the announcement of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles at Sony's State of Play, only one the titles on the list since then. Most have either been announced or already released, like the Chrono Cross Remaster, the PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Gears of War: E-Day.
Square Enix had quite a few projects listed in the leak, including the FF Tactics remaster, the PC version of Final Fantasy 16, the remasters of Tomb Raider, and Kingdom Hearts 4. Now, all eyes are on the one game that is still unconfirmed from that list, and it's one fans have been ionately asking for. With the game's anniversary coming soon and teases from Square Enix itself, we may get an announcement soon, if the other now-confirmed leaks are anything to go off of.
Final Fantasy 9 Remake Is The Only Leaked Square Enix Game Unannounced
The List Has Been Very Accurate
A full compilation of the found leaked games was put together by -LastGrail- on Reddit and has been consistently updated as new games are revealed, official titles changed, and more. -LastGrail- has also kept track of when development code names of projects get decoded, like "Project Holland," which turned out to be the reboot of Fable. The games still unannounced are marked with an "X" on the list, and the ones that are revealed are marked with a check mark.

Final Fantasy 9 Remake May Soon Be Revealed As Square Enix Prepares For The 25th Anniversary
As Square Enix prepares to celebrate Final Fantasy 9's 25th Anniversary, a dedicated website could mean an imminent remake announcement.
With the FF Tactics remaster now announced, the only Square Enix game that hasn't been revealed is the heavily-rumored remake of Final Fantasy 9. Despite a lot of new merchandise to promote the game's 25th anniversary, which is July 7, there has been no concrete information about the purported title or if it even exists. However, given that every other Square Enix game on the leaked list exists and plenty of other titles on the list have likewise been confirmed, it's within reason to assume the title exists.
There was also an entire website launch for the game's milestone anniversary, and with that came new renders of lead characters Zidane and Princess Garnet. Final Fantasy 14 has showcased a lot of FF9 love recently, with one of the MMO's most recent Trial bosses featuring a version of Beatrix from FF9 and an arrangement of her iconic theme song. But, alas, despite all the rumors, nothing has materialized for the supposed game, at least not yet.
Is FF9 Remake Real And Will We See It Soon?
It Seems Real, But Only Time Will Tell
Director of FF14, Naoki Yoshida, may have accidentally confirmed the game's existence in an interview about FF14's inclusion of several FF9 elements, ending his comments by saying the reason behind all the FF9 content in the game was a secret. FF14 has had crossovers with other Final Fantasy titles in the past, like featuring Final Fantasy 10's Anima summon as the final boss for an Endwalker dungeon, so this comment could be a reference to something that will come later for FF14. But right now, there's yet to be a pinpoint on the "secret reason."

The Final Fantasy 9 Remake Is Allegedly Still In The Works, Possible Release In 2026
A new bit of information confirms that the rumored, long-awaited FF9 remake is still in the works, but it could be a while before it hits our screens.
With so many game events this week, including Summer Games Fest, it seems like fans are hoping to see an FF9 remake make an appearance. It's definitely possible, and it seems likely that the remake, if it exists, would be announced before the game's anniversary to allow excitement to build and encourage purchases of the merchandise items on the anniversary website.
It's worth noting that not every game on the NVIDIA leaked list has come true, and some of the titles have been different, so it's impossible to say with absolute certainty whether the FF9 remake exists right now. Given everything we know so far, however, the existence of an FF9 remake seems more likely than not. There's a lot of evidence piling up for the game, and the reveal of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles could have been a tease for more to come this week. Either way, fans of Square Enix and Final Fantasy will be watching closely.
