One enjoyment that many players will have while playing through Palia is the number of recipes that they are available to craft, including Macarons. However, in order to craft this unique dessert, players will need to dig up the quest associated with it and then unlock the recipe for them.
Unfortunately, the Macaron-associated quest does not say anything about them in its title and is not even given to players. Rather, Macarons will be unlocked during The Great Human Bake-Off quest which is a discovery quest. This means that any who hopes to craft this dessert will need to put in the effort to actually find the item that initiates the quest in the first place.
The Great Human Bake-Off Quest
In order to kick off this quest, players need to go digging around the west end of the Flooded Steps when looking at the map of Bahari Bay. Eventually, a "Very Old... Grocery List" will be found with not much to go on. Speaking with other characters around Palia is going to be the best chance at uncovering what this really is and while Reth might be the obvious one to talk to, he won't know anything.
Instead, show it to Hekla to learn that this is actually a recipe, not a grocery list. In fact, it is the recipe for Macarons and luckily none of the ingredients come from any gardening crops in Palia that will have to be harvested first.
How To Make The Macaron Recipe
The newly obtained recipe will list 1x Flour, 1x Egg, 1x Milk, and 1x Sweet Leaf as the ingredients for Macarons. The ingredients can all be purchased from the general store, aside from the Sweet Leaf. Unfortunately, cooking it is not that simple because two Mixing Stations are also needed, which can be a task if not even one has already been crafted. In order to unlock the Mixing Station tool upgrade in Palia, purchase the plans from Reth after reaching level 3 in cooking.
Many players experience confusion while attempting this recipe because they overlook the fact that two mixing stations are needed for this specific recipe. Not one, but two. Therefore, without the second one, Macarons cannot be made.
Once that plan is obtained, the Mixing Stations can be crafted with 20x Sapwood Plank, 2x Copper Bar, and 3x Fabric.
With the Mixing Stations complete, all that is left to do is make the Macarons and complete the Great Human Bake-Off quest. Head to the Mixing Station and select Macarons from the options. They will take about one minute in Palia before they are ready. After they're done, the Macarons will provide players with 225 Focus, or 337 Focus for any that are Star Quality.
