According to Jennifer Holland, who plays Emilia Harcourt in the DC franchise, Peacemaker season 2 will officially begin production this summer, as she was asked by a fan on social media about the status of the show:

At the time of this story's publication, DC Studios and Max have not announced an official Peacemaker season 2 premiere date, as it is unclear if the show will actually be back in 2024 or 2025.

Will Gunn's Superman Filming Affect Peacemaker Season 2?

While it remains to be seen how Peacemaker season 2 fits into the larger DC Universe, the bigger question is what Gunn's actual involvement with the show will look like this summer. On Sunday, March 10, Gunn broke his silence following Holland's comments about Peacemaker season 2 filming in the summer, stating that, "The source is kind of iffy but this is true 😂. John Cena shared this on Howard Stern last week. To answer your follow-up questions: yes, we’ll be shooting Superman & Peacemaker simultaneously; yes, I’ve written all the episodes; but, no, in the interest of getting the show out there I won’t be able to direct them all (only some); & yes, Waller’s still happening & Jeremy & Christal are hard at work writing great stuff, but the schedule was impacted by the strikes so it’ll come after Peacemaker," meaning that while he won't direct every episode; DC Universe fans can look forward to him helming at least a couple of installments.

This sheds light on the overall setup for the DCU and its production for the foreseeable future, and seemingly ensures audiences can still get some episodes of Peacemaker directed by James Gunn even if his priority is the franchise's first movie. Hopefully, as Peacemaker season 2 starts rolling the cameras this summer, new casting announcements and story details will be shared sooner rather than later.
