June 2, 2022 is bringing the next frequently scheduled PlayStation State of Play presentation, where trailers, gameplay, and announcements are expected. Sony's calendar year started off with big titles in Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7, but the company's attention has more recently been centered on the relaunch of PlayStation Plus as it attempts a new model to rival Xbox's Game . As the industry approaches a summer filled with gaming news, Sony and the PlayStation brand will follow suit, with an explicit promise of a look at games coming to PSVR 2.

State of Play livestreams are regular occurrences, and always pique the interest of those hoping to get more information on PlayStation's exclusives. Third-party developers are just as frequently featured, though, as was the case in the last State of Play, which was singularly focused on a long-awaited Hogwarts Legacy gameplay preview. The State of Play on June 2 appears to be returning to the more common mixed bag of footage, but Sony has already attempted to dampen expectations for first-party exclusives being shown.

The State of Play on June 2 begins at 6pm Eastern/3pm Pacific and will last roughly half an hour. Sony's official broadcast will be viewable on the PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels. The streams typically start early, letting viewers tune in and get prepared, but the actual State of Play won't begin until its scheduled time. Plenty of other gaming outlets and streamers will likely also show the State of Play simultaneously, but the PlayStation Blog posts warns that there is a chance of copyrighted music causing issues with a co-stream.

Third-Party Games To Expect In The June 2022 State Of Play

While the likely exclusion of first-party exclusive news may lose some interest, there are plenty of big third-party titles with expected reveals soon. It was recently confirmed that development of Final Fantasy XVI is nearly complete, and that a trailer will be coming soon. Given the close working relationship between Sony and Square Enix, FF16's developer and publisher, the State of Play seems to be a convenient place to drop the trailer. The game is expected to be a timed console exclusive for the PlayStation 5, another factor indicating Sony will want to be a major part of its marketing.

Another long-running series expected to make a big announcement soon is Street Fighter. According to industry insider Classic characters are expected to return in SF6, but with Capcom so far releasing only a teaser trailer, information remains scarce.

Taking the previous State of Play into , it wouldn't be surprising to see more footage from Hogwarts Legacy. The Harry Potter-inspired open world game has been anticipated for quite some time, but publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has yet to provide a specific release date beyond its Holiday 2022 window. PlayStation's last State of Play provided a good overview of Hogwarts Legacy, but there is still plenty of other footage that could conceivably be shown. A more in-depth story trailer is likely to release at some point, but there's also the possibility of more gameplay, including an uninterrupted look at a quest or just exploration of Hogwarts.

In of smaller projects, Stray from BlueTwelve Studio and Annapurna Interactive is once again on the media radar after its release date was delayed to Summer 2022Stray puts players in control of a cat, which has piqued player interest during its multiple showings at PlayStation presentations. On a similar note, Little Devil Inside, which has been in development since its 2015 Kickstarter campaign, had its first in-depth trailer at a previous State of Play. It too is expected in 2022, making both Stray and Little Devil Inside possible features on June 2.

What The June 2022 State Of Play's PSVR 2 Games Might Be

half-life alyx psvr 2 release rumor.

Despite Sony stating an emphasis on third-party games, there's a chance for PlayStation IP to show up at the State of Play when it comes to reveals for PlayStation VR 2. Horizon Call of the Mountain was announced in January this year, but only had a very short teaser trailer. Guerrilla Games was busy getting Forbidden West out the door at the time, but the developers claim Call of the Mountain will redefine VR games. A Horizon game could be a major attraction for the PSVR 2, and the State of Play is as good a place as any for Guerrilla to divulge some more information.

Other products coming to PSVR 2 have stayed tightly under wraps. With the success of Resident Evil 7 on the original PSVR, many are expecting RE8's official VR debut to be on its successor. Capcom has stated that RE8 DLC is in the works, but there hasn't been any confirmation of VR just yet. Similarly, rumors have been circulating in regards to an agreement between Valve and Sony to bring Half-Life: Alyx to PSVR 2 when it launches. Alyx frequently ranks as a definitive VR experience, and could be a major selling point for the platform if the rumors turn out to be true. Finally, speculation also points to Hideo Kojima developing a PSVR 2 game, which could be another heavy hitter to appear at the State of Play.

Aside from a few looks at the controllers and headset, marketing for PSVR 2 hasn't really picked up yet. Virtual reality staples like Beat Saber and Skyrim VR seem likely to make the jump to PSVR 2 as well. Some of the above games could also be considered big enough announcements for Sony to save for a larger PlayStation Showcase, if one is in the works. Regardless, PlayStation State of Play livestreams are always exciting, and even if big name third-party games don't make an appearance, a better idea of what's coming to PSVR 2 is more than welcome.
