After Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always celebrated the original show’s 30th anniversary, the next Power Rangers show to get a reunion should be S.P.D. – especially if it were possible to do it in 2025. Although Power Rangers has had plenty of crossover episodes and nostalgic cameos, the franchise had never done a proper reunion for a specific season before Once & Always. Given the significance of Power Rangers turning 30, it only made sense to get some of the original cast back for a TV special.
Of course, no other Power Rangers season is as iconic as Mighty Morphin, even though the original series is arguably not the best entry in the franchise. It would be naïve to believe that every or Power Rangers chronology.
A Power Rangers S.P.D. Reunion In 2025 Would Bring The Futuristic Show Full Circle
We’ve Finally Caught Up With Power Rangers S.P.D.’s Distant Future
While Power Rangers S.P.D. was released in 2005, the show was set in 2025. In other words, a Power Rangers S.P.D. reunion next year would not only be celebrating the show’s 20th anniversary, but it would also be acknowledging the fact that we finally caught up with the S.P.D.'s future. Power Rangers S.P.D. wasn’t the first season to be set in the future, with Time Force also playing with the show’s chronology in 2001.
In Power Rangers Operation Overdrive's "Once A Ranger," we learn that Bridge becomes the new Red Ranger at some point. In BOOM! Studios' Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon, set after the show, Sky is the new Earth commander of S.P.D.
However, whereas Time Force’s first episode was set in the year 3000 before Jen and her team traveled to 2001, most of S.P.D. took place in 2025. For those who watched Power Rangers S.P.D. when it came out, it can be a shock to realize that those 20 years referenced as a far future have now ed in the real world. Interestingly, given how different the contemporary world shown in recent Power Rangers seasons like Cosmic Fury is from what S.P.D. predicted, some like to perceive the 2005 season as an alternate future.
Why A Power Rangers S.P.D. Reunion In 2025 Is Unlikely (Despite Sounding Great)
Power Rangers Should Celebrate S.P.D.’s Anniversary Even if Not With An Official Reunion
A proper, official Power Rangers S.P.D. would have had to be at least announced by now for it to come out in 2025. Additionally, as much as Power Rangers fans would like to see some sort of celebration for S.P.D.’s 20th anniversary, it is unlikely that it would happen anyway. Still, it would be fun to save at least some kind of S.P.D. reunion next year, even if just the cast getting together unscripted. Another fun possibility would be to have an S.P.D.-centered comic book from BOOM! Studios.

Power Rangers’ 2000s Era Peaked 20 Years Ago With A Crossover That Will Never Be Topped
One of the coolest team-up episodes in Power Rangers history aired 20 years ago and combined two of the show’s best seasons from the early 2000s.
It would also be interesting to have any sort of canon confirmation of whether S.P.D. still works as part of the main Power Rangers timeline, or if it is better to label it as an alternate universe season like R.P.M. or Dino Charge. Either way, S.P.D. will always be ed as one of the best Power Rangers seasons of all time, and the show should be especially celebrated in 2025 even if never gets a reunion like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always.
