Man I would love to see the Justice League Unlimited cartoon come back. Crisp, fun, and so much variety to the stories, and there are stories that favor animation as the medium. Tech and reach had come so far; this is where DC should be trying to start their media universe, DC animated features have always been a bright spot, they should start shining a spotlight on them and build buzz!
I *feel* this article so hard it hurts. 100% accurate in every way. They MUST find a way to continue these stories....they are too important to let go!!!
Please. Somebody find a way to bring this back. I love Lower Decks and it has enriched and expanded the Star Trek uni/multiverse in more ways that any other series, and it has done so with the utmost respect and continuation of the message and HOPE that Star Trek is at its core.
It cannot be understated how important Lower Decks is to both Star Trek, and the world around us.
Loud enough for those in the back of executive conference rooms...
JUST MAKE MORE LOWER DECKS!!!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is a once-in-a-generarion opportunity to make something that ties another franchise and everything together with laughter, self-aeare ess, and pure, undiluted joy and respect to everyone in loved.
Mike McMahan is, I truly think, the ONLY person whom loves Star Trek wholly and fully enough to make this all work.
This could be as legendary as The Simpsons if Paramount would just commit to it long term!!!!!!! Cornerstone of their entire media empire and the crown jewel of the modern zeitgeist. Lower Decks! Lower Decks! C'mon do it with me; Lower Decks! Lower Decks!!!!!!!
Finally, someone else who sees that the Blue Lanterns are worth bringing into stories.
The message of hope being paramount is overdue in a comic book landscape that has been filled with bleak, dark stories that feel the need to deconstruct everything.
I think the real world could use some of this messaging as well.
I..simply cannot envision a world where these people no longer make Star Trek together. Lower Decks is the pinnacle of Star Trek. All its optimism, hope for the future, and true relatability, so meticulously presented in these short episodes. This is art, this is the essence of human creativity, in its best form.
I really really hope there is more Lower Decks, and even seeing the ripples of what they've created here shape Star Trek for the rest of ithe entire franchise universe.
Nobody has ever expanded and enriched a franchise like Mike McMahan has done here with Star Trek and Lower Decks. And I hope he continues to do so for many years, with all these amazing actors who truly love Star Trek. This doesn't exist anywhere else. Is special and magical, and it should be encouraged to no end!!!!!
7? I want 30+. Lower Decks should be the new The Simpsons!!!!!
Middle class struggles made The Simpsons relatable so people latched into it; Lower Decks does the same with modern office work feeling and the pervasiveness of technology in our lives lately. I really think they could run with this if they just tried!
Both are fantastically well done, and I rewatch them all the time; still am amazed by looking at what IS, simply, the art form elevated to its highest quality.
Dude, I feel ya. It's like it highlights the essence of Star Trek. There has been astounding character growth..of every. single. character. It's a masterclass in TV writing/direction/production, and it manages to do it in 22-min chunks.
I watch them over and over and am amazed by how well this series is done. People are absolutely dismissing it and looking down on it for being animated -- but it is solid, classic, lasting, gold television show quality, and I have to believe that someone SOMEWHERE will realize it's potential and Make It So.
You absolutely nailed it here. Hit every point I have been ranting about to anyone that will listen.
Do they not see this has the potential to be generational and genre spanning lasting cultural impact?? Think "The Simpsons". A shared sci fi reference for all ages to have this shared memeology. It only can it launch spinoffs and other franchises through cultural familiarity, it proposes a beautiful, realistically balanced and peaceful goal for humanity to live with grow with and aspire to. Lower Decks IS the perfect example of the reason that Lucille Ball believed in the unifying potential of Star Trek.
Someone get this information to someone who has the power to recognize this and change this!!!!!

Totally agree. The fact that they're kids who have to grow up along the way is crucial to the"feel" of the show.

I like the /concept/ of Starfleet Academy, but I realllllly wish it was set in the 24th century
The cognitive distance between now and Discovery's ending time is just too much for me.
Star Trek works so well because it inspired us to a truly not-all-that-far-off future that looks fantastic.
That many years, the crazy tech they have to come up with...it just feels like ..fantasy fiction rather than science fiction I guess...
Star Trek Ending Its Animated Comedy Still Makes No Sense
+1 from me.
I was reading this and thinking this is exactly what I've been saying! The whole thing!
