See AllFrieren: Beyond Journey's End Is Great, But There's a Reason the Staff Thought It Wouldn't Succeed
As someone fast approaching 40 and many miles separated from the friends I grew up with, and then years and miles separated again from my college friends, I absolutely Get Frieren and her view on the world.
Look at our own world, try to get across to someone 20-21 years old just how different their lives were growing up compared to those of us born before 1990, with that big thing that happened in the world just after the turn of the century, you know the one. We went through a true shift in the world's era in that one shift of the generations, much like how the 'kids', the humans around Frieren who weren't around for the completely different world an era earlier that she was young in can't comprehend the changes she's seen.
I think a lot of the younger audience who don't "get" Frieren today will... when their kids are around their age they are today. I'm not saying they can't enjoy it, but it definitely hits differently for me today at 39 than it would have back when I was watching DBZ and the like as my fresh new series.
