Skaar's debut in Angry Hulk's MCU return. The birth of Smart Hulk is the result of many years of research from Bruce Banner, who finally found a way to subdue his monstrous alter ego. This, however, required Banner to give up a big part of Hulk's strength and brutality.
As Hulk's rage is a huge part of his character, fan theories about the return of the classic raging Hulk in the Multiverse Saga abound. Bruce Banner could lose control once again, be manipulated into unleashing his angry self, or spawn a brand-new version of Hulk that could be even angrier than the original. As exciting as those possibilities may sound, the MCU is more likely to preserve Bruce Banner's Smart Hulk persona in the long run. After all, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law confirmed that Hulk's son is a “Smart Hulk” himself. Depending on how Skaar achieved this "smart" form, Bruce Banner's eventual loss of control could be far easier to solve than ever.
Why Is Skaar A Smart Hulk In The MCU?
Due to Hulk and Abomination's original instability, Gamma-powered characters used to be considered uncontrollable by nature. However, Bruce Banner's Smart Hulk, Emil Blonsky's renewed Abomination, and Jennifer Walters' She-Hulk have proven that calm Hulks are more common than previously thought. As for Skaar, either Bruce Banner helped him achieve this form in one of his labs — which may have aged him up in the process — or Skaar simply was born this way, as part of the Hulks' natural evolution. Perhaps Skaar's alien mother had a certain gene that helped Bruce Banner master his “Smart” form. In that case, Skaar's physiology may hold the key to revert Hulk's transformation if the rampaging Green Goliath ever comes back.
Bruce Banner Doesn’t Need To Choose Between Angry and Smart Hulk
Even if Bruce Banner loses control again, Angry Hulk doesn't need to be the curse it once was. As soon as he reverts to Bruce Banner, he could snap on a new inhibitor or research his way back to a Smart Hulk form. Banner already achieved it once by himself. Now, She-Hulk, Abomination, and Skaar can help him do it again. To take advantage of the original Hulk's massive strength, Banner could keep his original alter ego on speed dial for actual Hulked-out MCU fights, similar to how he did back in The Avengers. In the comics, Bruce Banner can transform into many of his different Hulk personalities, so having one Hulk form for every situation may be something that Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner can look into after She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.
