With the 1.6 update for Stardew Valley, you can now purchase books from a bookseller that you can find in the valley. Using the Bookseller to purchase certain books will enable you to have certain buffs/bonuses that will help you with your farm, fishing, or even upgrade some skills. While books can be found in other locations, you can also purchase certain books if you do not want to seek them out.
It is worth noting that Marcello the Bookseller is not available to use throughout the year in Stardew Valley and only appears twice per season. While there is no set date for when the Bookseller appears, you can check the calendar outside Pierre’s store to see if the shop is open. If you spot a shop with a hot-air balloon icon on the calendar, the shop will be available for use on that particular day.

Where To Find The Bookseller
Bookseller's Location In The Valley
Once you spot the hot-air balloon on the calendar, you can find the Bookseller on the northeast side of town. The specific spot where the Bookseller’s shop appears is right above JoJo Mart. Upon reaching the bookshop, you can purchase various books that will give you certain buffs that you might need.
Note that some books can cost upwards of 20,000g, such as Ol’ Slitherlegs, which increases the movement speed when your character runs through grass or crops.
It is recommended to purchase books for certain skills or buffs that you might require, especially if you want to make the most of your day while farming. While purchasing books in Stardew Valley can be quite costly, you can save some Gold by using another mechanic at the Bookseller’s store.
How To Save Money With The Bookseller
Booksellers are not only used to buy books. If you already have a book in your inventory and want to get more bonuses, you can duplicate the book at the store as well. You can either use the book to get the bonus or exchange these duplicate books with the Bookseller for resources such as Coal,
Deluxe Bait,
Pepper Poppers, and
Fairy Dust, among others.

The Bookseller in Stardew Valley rotates the lineup of books each time the shop is available. It is worth using the Bookseller if you need to upgrade a particular skill, stat, or other buffs, such as faster horse riding speed.

Stardew Valley Fans Are Shaken To Discover A Hidden Fishing Mechanic
Stardew Valley fans are reeling after one observant discovered a hidden fishing feature that's managed to elude the community for months.
Some of the books that you can purchase from the Bookseller include “Bait and Bobber,” which gives you 250 Fishing XP. One of my favorite books is the “Book of Stars” as it gives me experience in all five skills. Other books that you can use include “Horse: The Book,” which will permanently increase your speed when riding a horse, a very convenient upgrade in Stardew Valley.
Adding the Bookseller to Stardew Valley in the 1.6 update was one of the more meaningful additions, as it lets you upgrade attributes that help your character in a positive way. While purchasing these books can be quite costly, they definitely help in saving time and effort so that you can focus on other activities.
