Summary

  • Digimon has introduced an incredible number of powerful Digimon over the years.
  • Some Digimon are strong simply due to their overwhelming power and abilities.
  • Other Digimon exist at a level where their very existence poses a threat to the Digital World.

Despite all the cute and lovable monsters in the Digimon franchise, some of the franchise's strongest Digimon were so powerful that they basically broke the anime series with their awesome might. Part of Digimon's appeal has always been the idea of a cute rookie Digimon turning into an absolute behemoth. Some Digimon go well beyond Behemoth though and grow so powerful that they basically warp reality around themselves.

Few other anime have developed such a rich and diverse world as the Digimon franchise. Stretching back to its 1999 debut with Digimon Adventures and running to its most current anime Digimon Ghost Game, the franchise has introduced a multitude of Digimon that span the spectrum of powers and abilities. The Digimon universe has over 1,000 different types of digital monsters. Out of those myriad of monsters, ten stand head over shoulders above the rest in of raw power.

15 Black War Greymon - Jet-Black Dragon Warrior

Debuted in Digimon Adventure 02

Black War Greymon is the rare Digimon who was created for the single purpose of defeating the Digi-destined and destroying the Digital World. Black War Greymon was created by Arukinemon after her defeat at Giga House. However, as a result of the complexity of the construction process, while Black War Greymon was imbued with impressive powers, Arukinemon was not able to program him for complete obedience. As a result, rather than blindly following her orders to destroy, he acts according to his own ideas. A Mega-level Digimon, Black War Greymon is invulnerable to the attacks of most Digimon regardless of their level. In addition, he is a skilled fighter. His secret weapon is an upgraded terror destroyer beam that can obliterate anything it touches.

14 Apocalymon - Unidentified Digimon

Debuted in Digimon Adventure

Digimon Adventure's Apocalymon

First appearing in Digimon Adventure (1999), Apocalymon is rumored to have appeared spontaneously as a result of the negative thoughts that are created when a Digimon is deleted. Those negative thoughts form the central purpose of Apocalymon’s existence, namely to bring about the Digital World's end. Considered a Mega-level Digimon, Apocalymon is a powerful force of evil in the digital world with the ability to reverse a Digimon’s digivolution back to its basic form. Moreover, Apocalymon can copy the abilities of any Digimon he devolves. Apocalymon also has two ultimate weapons, namely the ability to delete a victim into nothingness, and the ability to self-destruct and wipe out the entire dimension he was in.

13 Daemon - Hellfire of Chaos

Debuted in Digimon Adventure: 02

The Powerful Digimon Daemon

Daemon has not only shown himself to be a particularly powerful presence among the forces of evil within the Digimon Universe but also as the bane of all those who seek to promote and maintain the integrity of the Digital World. Daemon's unrivaled power over the dark areas of the Digital World is indisputable and gives him access to dark forces. Daemon’s individual power comes from his ability to change size at will, make himself invulnerable, and shoot a hellfire blast that is so hot, it can melt anything it s. He is the definition of pure, digitized evil.

12 Gallantmon - Sky-Conquering Armored Lancer

Debuted in Digimon Tamers

First debuting in Digimon Tamers, Gallantmon, like Alphamon, is another member of the Royal Knights – the Mega-level Digimon who protect the Digital World. One of Gallantmon’s key powers is that his armor is nearly invulnerable. With the peace of mind his armor gives him, Gallantmon can focus on attacking opponents, which is greatly assisted by his lance that can overcome even the toughest protective measures. Perhaps most importantly, Gallantmon is a genius-level tactician who has helped the Royal Knights overcome significant odds more than once.

11 Lucemon - Paradise of Loss

Debuted in Digimon Frontier

10-Lucemon

As the Seven Great Demon Lords' leader, Lucemon is perhaps the most influential villain in the Digimon franchise. But one would never know that by his appearance. He began his digital life as a member of the angelic Digimon before he led an attempted coup against a supreme Digimon known as God. As a result, Lucemon was banished to the dark web where he embraced his dark side and continued his challenge against the digital world.

Another Mega-level Digimon, Lucemon is not to be trifled with. Depending on his mode, he can unleash a range of weapons from shooting fire from his mouth to firing life-sapping energy orbs to hammering opponents into submission using his superior size and strength.

10 ZeedMillenniummon's Anime Debut More Than Lived Up To Its Reputation

Debuted in Digimon Adventure:

While Millenniummon has been an iconic part of Digimon since its early years, it wouldn't properly make an appearance in the anime until the Digimon Adventure reboot, Digimon Adventure: There, Millenniummon was imagined as an ancient evil who had been manipulating events to engineer its revival, and upon doing so, it gave the DigiDestined their toughest fight up to that point.

It took decades for Millenniummon to properly appear in the anime, and it more than lived up to the hype. Every form of Millenniummon was a force to be reckoned with that pushed the heroes to their limits, and it was to the point that ZeedMillenniummon, Millenniummon, could only be defeated when War Greymon used the combined power of Goddramon, Magnadramon, and the hope of the Digitial World all at once. Millenniummon ended up not being the final villain of Digimon Adventure:, but it left an incredible mark, regardless.

9 Abbadomon Lived Up To Its Goal Of Pure Destruction

Debuted in Digimon Adventure:

The main antagonist of Digimon Adventure: was Negamon, a Digimon created as the embodiment of war and conflict in the Digital World. While Negamon initially existed as a necessary counterbalance to law and order, it was eventually corrupted and sought the total destruction of everything just for the sake of destruction, eventually Digivolving into the powerful Abbadomon to achieve that goal.

Once Negamon Digivolved into Abbadomon, it more than lived up to its reputation in Digimon Adventure: Not only is Abbadomon resistant to nearly every attack from even the strongest Digimon, but Abbadomon Core, Abbadomon's true form, was strong enough to hold its own against Omnimon before he turned into Omnimon Alter-S. Digimon Adventure: did a lot to build up Abbadomon as one of the most powerful Digimon in the entire franchise, and it succeeded on all fronts.

8 Susanoomon Is The God Of Rebirth In The Digital World

Debuted in Digimon Frontier

Fueled by the anger and sorrow of Lucemon's callous murder of Koichi, Takuya and Kouji fused together with all 20 Ancient Spirits to become a brand-new Digimon, Susanoomon. Essentially, it is a fusion of Kaiser Greymon and Magna Garurumon, but it stands on a far higher level of power than either Digimon.

In the wider Digimon lore, Susanoomon is viewed as a god capable of rewriting the entire universe, and that level of power is on full display in Digimon Frontier. After Lucemon spent multiple episodes being virtually untouchable, Susanoomon defeated Lucemon in the final episodes of Digimon Frontier with relative ease, and even Lucemon's more dangerous Satan Mode proved to be no match for him. Susanoomon might not have had a lot of screentime, but what little he had did a great job of selling him as an unstoppable force.

7 Ordinemon Causes Destruction Simply By Existing

Debuted in Digimon Adventure tri.

In Digimon Adventure tri., after Kari's grief over Tai caused Nyaromon to Dark Digivolve into Ofanimon Falldown Mode, Raguelmon, still corrupted by Apocalymon's data, fused with it to become the deadly Ordinemon. As Ordinemon, Meicoomon's threat level reached its zenith, and the DigiDestined were left with no choice but to put her down before she destroyed both the real world and the Digital World.

Ordinemon was the natural conclusion of Meicoomon's growing threat level. Not only could Ordinemon erase things with a single touch and spawn clones of powerful Digimon, but Ordinemon's very existence caused disharmony in the real world and the Digital World, so much so that Homeostasis, the god of the Digital World, wanted to initiate a reboot of reality just to get rid of her. It took Omnimon's powerful Merciful Mode for her to finally go down, which easily makes her one of the strongest Digimon, yet.

6 Omnimon - Legendary Warrior

Debuted in Digimon Adventure: Our War Game

Omnimon is the fusion of War Greymon and Metal Garurumon who first appeared in Digimon Adventure: Our War Game! as a final attempt to defeat Diaboromon and save Japan from being hit with a nuclear bomb. Omnimon has since gone on to become one of the most iconic Digimon in the franchise and repeatedly makes appearances both in and out of the Digimon Adventure continuity, often as a member of the elite group of Digimon known as the Royal Knights.

Befitting his popularity and the Digimon he's created from, Omnimon is consistently one of the strongest Digimon in the series. Aside from a few outliers, Omnimon can defeat any opponent he's up against the second he comes into battle, and with the versatility of his alternate forms like the Alters and Merciful Mode, there are few Digimon who can so much as touch him.
