Which character in Fantastic Four are you most excited to see debut?
We're just about a month and half away from the release of Fantastic Four: First Steps. While I'm excited to see the entire First Family rebooted with an all-new take for the MCU, I think I'm most looking forward to Joseph Quinn's Human Torch. Chris Evans' Johnny was one of my first favorite movie superheroes, and I did like Michael B. Jordan's casting in the 2015 movie, so I'm curious to see how Quinn compares.
If Brave and the Bold has multiple villains like Superman, which foes do you want to see?
James Gunn's Superman is set to feature multiple villains and foes for the Man of Steel including Lex Luthor, Ultraman, The Engineer, and giant kaiju, and more. With that in mind, I'm wondering if the DCU's Brave and the Bold will have multiple Batman rogues as well. I'd love to see a Batman movie where Riddler, Two-Face, and Penguin were all working together.
Will the MCU reveal that Galactus isn't actually a villain?
As excited as I am to see Galactus in the MCU, I wonder if Fantastic Four: First Steps will reveal that he's not actually a traditional villain. Even comics as recent as this week have reiterated that Galactus is more like a necessary force of cosmic nature who's meant to consume worlds, eventually storing their energy at the end of the universe in order to create the next universe. His actions and world devouring aren't inherently sinister or vidictive. While that doens't mean he shouldn't be stopped from trying to consume Earth, I do wonder if the new MCU movie plans to depict this nuance...
Who should star in Mike Flanagan's Clayface movie?
George MacKay, Tom Blyth, Jack O'Connell, and Leo Woodall were listed as the finalists to play Clayface in the DC movie, and I think they're all compelling choices. I'd love to see Jack O'Connell ride the recent wave of hype for Sinners into a prominent new role, but George MacKay is an actor whom I was starting to like, but now haven't seen in years. I'd be happy with either one.
I'm convinced Spider-Man: Brand New Day will repeat a superhero movie costume decision not seen in 22 years.
With no access to Stark Tech or the Avengers, I'm convinced Spider-Man: Brand New Day will see Tom Holland's Peter Parker use his suit from the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home for the whole movie. The last time a Marvel movie reused a Spider-Man costume was in 2004 when Tobey Maguire donned what was mostly his first Spider-Man suit again for his second movie as Peter Parker. Thematically, it would make sense for Spider-Man's fresh start in the MCU to be with the No Way Home suit, which he crafted on his own and is incredibly comics-accurate.
Should the MCU's Avengers movies introduce Doctor Doom and Sue Storm's daughter?
In the comics, Valeria Richards has quite a convoluted origin story. Before retcons, she was introduced as the daughter of Doctor Doom and Sue Storm from an alternate universe. I feel like that would be the perfect way to add Valeria to the MCU. The Avengers movies could have Valeria be the daughter of Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, and after them, when RDJ leaves the MCU for good, perhaps with his Doom dying, she could continue on Earth-616 as part of the Fantastic Four, bonding with this world's Sue and being a sister to the young Franklin Richards.
Which Fantastic Four popcorn bucket do you like most?
A few different popcorn buckets for Fantastic Four: First Steps have been revealed. The Galactus bucket is certainly impressive with the LED eyes (though it looks like it's going to be pretty pricey), and the Fantasticar is cool too. However, my favorite has got to be HERBIE which will apparently have compartments for popcorn, soda, and candy.
Is Tom Cruise going to play Iron Man in the MCU's Avengers movies?
Tom Cruise and Iron Man are a match made in heaven, but it never worked out for the actor to play Tony Stark on the big screen. However, the Avengers movies could change that, as the Multiverse Saga offers a final opportunity for the MCU to finally make that happen. Since Cruise praised The Flash movie in the past few years, it is clear that he is still aware of the superhero medium, so an offer to play a huge hero like Iron Man in movies that are sure to make over $1 billion could entice him. I'm hopeful.
Is Superman's runtime long enough?
Honestly, I would sit down in the theater for a three-hour Superman movie any day, but for the intents and purposes of the DCU, two hours and nine minutes is perfect. It's long enough to establish an overarching DC story, introduce its massive cast of characters, and tell a meaningful, individual story, while not dragging on for too long and pushing casual audiences away.
I agree with Dakota Johnson that Madame Web's box office failure was not her fault.
Madame Web's box office sits at $100.5 million, which is terrible for a superhero movie. While Dakota Johnson's performance as Cassandra Webb was not particularly exciting, I don't blame her for the movie's failure. Recently, the actress talked to the Los Angeles Times about the film's issues, revealing that Madame Web started as a completely different project but was changed by decisions made by "people who don’t have a creative bone in their body." Johnson also claimed its failure wasn't her fault. Madame Web's most glaring issues were its story and dialogue, which were boring and convoluted, not the cast.
Which of the new Superman character posters is your favorite?
DC Studios released several character posters for James Gunn's Superman. While they're all really cool, my absolute favorite was Metamorpho's. Not only does it serve as our best look yet at the DCU hero played by Anthony Carrigan, but he just looks so dang cool (like he jumped straight off the page).
I need Savage Hulk to return for one super important reason
MCU fans have been wanting Smart Hulk to rever back to Savage Hulk for quite a while now. However, the main reason why I want Savage Hulk back has everything to do wtih Ben Grimm's The Thing. A showdown between the two strongest Marvel heroes is only going to be satisfying if Hulk is the rage monster we all now and love (and wish would return).
I still think Doctor Doom will show up in Fantastic Four...
Although director Matt Shakman has said that Doctor Doom is not going to be in Fantastic Four: First Steps...I'm not convinced. If anything, I think Doom will end up being in one of the movie's post-credits scenes, or there will at least be some sort of connection/reference pointing to his imminent debut. After all, there should be SOME set up ahead of his Avengers 5 debut.
Will Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom appear in The Fantastic Four: First Steps despite the MCU director's comments?
The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman has shot down the chances of Robert Downey Jr. appearing in the movie, saying, "Doom is not a part of my film, and therefore not a part of my purview." Despite the director's blunt comments, I remain confident that the character will be in the film. Shakman's words leave room for Doctor Doom to appear in The Fantastic Four: First Steps' post-credits scene like he was rumored to, since it would not be in the movie itself.
Who should play the DCU's Alfred?
As excited as I am to learn who's gong to play the DCU's new Batman, I'm also curious to know who's going to play Alffed. The LEGO Batman movie proved Ralph Fiennes culd be an amazing Alfred, though I'd also love to see Pierce Brosnan in the role as well.
Which MCU character are you most excited to see fight Doctor Doom?
I'm so incredibly excited to see Doctor Doom in action in the MCU. While it's expected he'll be fighting multiple heroes in Avengers: Doomsday, I think I'm most excited to see him fight either Doctor Strange, pitting their equally impressive magical prowess against each other. That said, Doctor Doom vs Magneto would be very exciting too.
Was James Gunn cutting a Guardians of the Galaxy member what made the MCU trilogy work?
Richard Rider, aka Nova, has been part of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the comics. Despite the MCU having explored the idea of bringing the character to live-action and James Gunn's original Guardians of the Galaxy movie having featured the Nova Corps prominently, the director never included Rider because he felt there should be only one human on the team, Chris Pratt's Star-Lord. I would have loved to see Nova in the MCU, but I agree with Gunn, as every member of the team being unique played out for the best. Nova would have taken focus away from Star-Lord.
I'm disappointed the Fantastic Four's most underrated character is likely not in their MCU debut.
I think Valeria Richards is the most underrated Fantastic Four character in the comics, so I would love to see her in the MCU. That said, I can't see it happening in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. After all, Reed Richards and Sue Storm's older child, Franklin Richards, will be born throughout the film. With Galactus, the Silver Surfer, Franklin, the whole team, and more to set up, I think there will not be enough time to drop teases that Valeria will one day come to the MCU. That said, I would love to be wrong.
Could Thunderbolts* 2 happen after the MCU movie's poor box office?
Thunderbolts*'s box office is currently at $369.5 million. While that is double the MCU movie's budget, the film needs to perform somewhere in the $360-$450 million range to break even. Thunderbolts* is unlikely to get to the high end of the projections, and even if the movie does break even or turn a small profit, Thunderbolts* is one of the MCU's biggest box office bombs. Still, I believe Thunderbolts* 2 could happen. They are now the New Avengers and will play a key role in Avengers: Doomsday & Secret Wars. That could boost their popularity, leading to a successful sequel.
I'm dissappointed LEGO's not making sets for the new Superman movie
While Superman merch and toys are starting to hit shelves, I can't help but notice the major lack of LEGO sets. This is pretty surprising, especially considering that LEGO does have a DC license. Maybe they're waiting to see if the movie is a success before they green light sets? Either way, I'm bummed there's not a "Superman Meet the Justice Gang" set or "Superman vs Ultraman". Likewise, a Superman/Kaiju model would have been awesome.
