  • Coco is my favorite Pixar film largely because of the sheer emotional resonance it has by the end. Turns me into a sobbing mess. The music in this is so good. I catch myself singing Poco Loco every once in a while. Beautiful to look at and a heartfelt look into family, life, and death.

  • Another Pixar movie where the villain is generational trauma, but this is such a vibrant film, it separates itself from the others. Music is an important part of the film, letting the songs shine as part of the narrative, and even my cold, dead heart tears up at the ending.

  • The only movie I've ever seen my mom cry during. There's so many beautiful messages interwoven throughout this film, from the concept of death to the bond of a family. It goes without saying that the setting was stunning, and the songs were well-produced too. It really felt like a celebration of a culture.

  • Coco is good, but its timing is off, and there's the definite sense of filling time in the afterlife just so the film can get its ducks in a row for the ending.

Coco Review: Pixar's Gorgeous Celebration of Family & Music
8/10

Coco is a heartwarming story about family and a well-crafted coming of age tale steeped beautifully in the traditions of Mexico's Día de los Muertos.
