Ultimate X-Men is a comic book series from Marvel that helped bring more franchise heroes into the new "Ultimate" continuity, ing the likes of Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four. In Ultimate X-Men, the titular mutants do not have secret identities, but they still fear persecution due to their genetic abilities. The tone shifted to a more adult-focused one. The modernization and shift to a more inclusive audience helped rejuvenate interest in the X-Men franchise. The original Ultimate series ran from 2001 to 2009 but was re-launched again as Ultimate Comics: X-Men.
