A premiere date for the cast of The Equalizer includes Laya DeLeon Hayes, Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira, and Lorraine Toussaint. After maintaining steady viewership, The Equalizer season 5 was announced in April, before the recent finale, where Robyn and Marcus (Kittles) were considering their future together.
Now, nearly two months after the season 4 finale, CBS has released its Fall 2024 television schedule, and The Equalizer season 5 will premiere on Sunday, October 27. While NFL coverage may impact the start time, new episodes are expected to air Sundays at 9 p.m. beginning on November 3.
What Will Happen In The Equalizer Season 5?
Robyn's Team May Look Very Different
Unlike previous endings involving dangerous circumstances, The Equalizer season 4 concluded with a tearful goodbye between Robyn and Marcus. As the show progressed, Marcus’ lack of discipline became a problem for the NYPD, and he weighed a potential promotion working for the Federal Task Force in Los Angeles. Though Robyn encouraged him to go, she later changed her mind. Unfortunately, it was too late, and the couple parted ways. Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see how this affects Kittles’ role, and if Marcus and Robyn can find a way to resume their romance.
One of the biggest questions surrounding The Equalizer season 5 has to be whether Robyn’s team remains intact. After Mel (Lapira) was abducted by someone in her veteran group seeking revenge, believing that she intentionally murdered his father, the character came to with her past. However, in the season 4 finale, she chose to distance herself from Robyn and any future cases. Although she won’t be working alongside Robyn and Harry (Goldberg) anymore, should they find themselves in serious trouble, perhaps Mel will re the team.

15 Best Shows Like The Equalizer
Vigilante crime dramas and modern reboots of classic shows will impress fans of The Equalizer TV show starring Queen Latifah.
Besides some departures, and Harry having to discontinue his A.I. software, season 5 will likely find Robyn handling more individual cases. It’s hard to imagine that these characters will be absent for the entire duration, but based on the season 4 ending, Robyn’s team might be slightly smaller. With a premiere date officially set, fans can look forward to seeing what transpires next when The Equalizer returns to CBS.
Could These Character Arcs Affect The Equalizer's Future?
As mentioned, Marcus heading to Los Angeles would compromise a major storyline. His relationship with Robyn changed substantially from The Equalizer season 1, and given all of that build up, having to accept his departure would be challenging for fans. From attempting to arrest Robyn, to forming a partnership and eventually growing closer, Marcus had only just made things official with Robyn in season 4. Because of how important his character development was, it seems almost impossible to continue The Equalizer without Marcus. However, the series did manage to write off William Bishop (Chris Noth), but the circumstances were different.
Noth, who came under controversy following numerous sexual assault allegations, was removed from The Equalizer after appearing in 2 seasons.
There may be more uncertainty concerning romance, as Robyn and Marcus aren’t the only couple on The Equalizer. While there is no update on Mel’s character arc, she and Harry are married on the show, so audiences should expect to catch her around, but in what capacity remains to be seen. Another main cast member throughout The Equalizer, and a crucial part of Robyn’s team, it’s equally difficult to envision the series without her. The alternative to potentially losing her and Marcus would be to replace them, but it’s not always easy to integrate new characters.
The Equalizer season 4 captured a large audience, ranking among the most-watched shows on broadcast television, behind CBS mainstays NCIS and FBI. It will be interesting to see how fans react to season 5, and whether Marcus and Mel’s latest reveals impact the show in significant ways. As long as Latifah remains on board, The Equalizer should be able to withstand possible exits, although viewers are likely hoping that Kittles and Lapira’s characters return to action soon.
