Bosch star Titus Welliver is set to lead a potential spinoff of Bosch: Legacy season 3 serving as the franchise's farewell outing. It will premiere in March, making the move to Prime Video. Although the veteran actor will make guest appearances in the Renée Ballard spinoff, led by Maggie Q, he's perhaps lined up for his next starring role.
Deadline confirms that CBS has tapped Welliver and Harlem star Juani Feliz to play the two leads in the potential Equalizer spinoff. The two new characters will be introduced in season 5, episode 16, with the hope that they could lead their own series. Welliver will play Hudson Reed, a former top CIA operative with a dark secret. He is connected to Robin McCall (Queen Latifah) through an old mentor. Feliz, meanwhile, plays Samantha Reed. Trained by her father, Hudson, to be a weapons expert and an overall chameleon, Reed hides a mysterious past.
What The Potential Equalizer Spinoff Means
It's A Change For The Equalizer Franchise
The Equalizer season 5, episode 16, will air in the spring, with Joseph C. Wilson serving as an executive producer on the potential spinoff. However, the project is not regarded as a backdoor pilot. CBS has instead been taking what it views as a more informal approach to setting up franchises. Morena Baccarin, for example, guest starred on one episode of Fire Country before her Sheriff Country spinoff was confirmed. On the other hand, Jared Padalecki appeared in a three-episode Fire Country arc. Though his spinoff remains a possibility, it has not been officially announced.

15 Best Shows Like The Equalizer
Vigilante crime dramas and modern reboots of classic shows will impress fans of The Equalizer TV show starring Queen Latifah.
The premise is also a bit of a departure from The Equalizer. Feliz, known for playing Isabela Benitez-Santiago in the Prime Video series Harlem, and Welliver would be co-leads in a title known for its singular leads. The franchise may be best known for the Denzel Washington movies, but it goes back to the 1980s and has tended to focus on a solo main character.
Our Take On The Equalizer's Potential Spinoff
CBS Aims For Another Franchise
CBS may not want to refer to The Equalizer's spinoff as a backdoor pilot, but the network has a successful history of making franchises from shows as varied as NCIS and The Good Wife. If it wants to do the same for Queen Latifah's popular series, casting familiar faces like Welliver and Feliz is a solid start.
The Equalizer season 5 returns Sunday, February 16, at 10 PM ET on CBS
