The Rookie season 7 ended on a huge cliffhanger with Oscar escaping prison, bringing back FBI Agent Matthew Garza into the fold. Agent Garza is an FBI Supervisory Special Agent, working at the FBI Los Angeles Field Division - Special Investigative Unit as the Team Leader. He was first seen in the backdoor pilot for The Rookie: Feds in The Rookie season 4, episode 19, titled "Simone." He appeared in the backdoor pilot alongside Simone Clark (Niecy Nash), both essential characters in The Rookie: Feds.

During his time on The Rookie: Feds, Garza was reluctant to welcome Clark, as she was a rookie FBI agent and an older one he wasn't too keen about working with. However, Garza had some issues, as his supervisor, Tracey Chiles, attempted to blackmail Carter Hope for information so she could get his unit shut down. Garza was then arrested for spying and had to receive immediate surgery after he collapsed at the grave of the deceased woman he dated. Despite being a huge target on The Rookie: Feds, Garza should still return to The Rookie.

Agent Garza Made An Appearance At The End Of Season 7, Episode 18

As if The Rookie season 7 finale wasn't riveting enough, the audience got to see the return of Agent Garza. Although the scene was short, his return opened the door to exciting possibilities for Garza and maybe other The Rookie: Feds cast . As one of the standout characters, Garza’s appearance may not have been just a simple cameo. His interaction with the cast at the end of the season hinted at unfinished business and possibly indicated a larger role in season 8. While his presence didn’t change the season's plot, it did seem like the writers were laying the groundwork for something more.

Bringing Garza back for The Rookie season 8 is smart, considering how his character resonated with fans. His character development from Feds could add fresh dynamics to the series. Additionally, Garza's reappearing in the season 7 finale could blend the storylines from both shows, which could offer closure to those who wanted a Feds season 2. The Rookie season 8 is an opportunity to deep dive more into Garza's character.

Fans Seem Excited About Agent Garza's Potential To Make Appearances In Season 8

Felix Solis Looking Grave as Matthew Garza in The Rookie Feds

A Reddit thread started by The Rookie season 8. While no one mentioned Garza specifically besides the OP, a majority of the s did say they'd like to see more The Rookie: Feds agents return. As a fan of both shows as well, Garza would be my number one pick to return from the spinoff series. Since he appeared in the season 7 finale and had a pretty integral part at the end, it would make the most sense for Garza to make a return over the other Feds cast .

Since several cast from Feds appeared in season 7, it's more than likely they will make an appearance in The Rookie season 8. While nothing has been confirmed about Garza, the way season 7 ended was definitely a setup for him to have a role in season 8. Other Feds characters who could make a return include Laura Stensen (Britt Robertson) and Brendon Acres (Kevin Zegers). Both had pretty significant roles in season 7, with Acres appearing in more than one episode last season. While casting isn't confirmed, I hope Garza will at least return for The Rookie season 8.
