I have a lot of friends who prefer <em>2049, </em>and while I certainly understand why, I'm partial to the original. <em>2049 </em>is flashy with vibrant colors and modern visuals, but I never really felt as strongly about the narrative. The original <em>Blade Runner </em>is just so prolific, and the level of craft in so many different areas that went into creating its aesthetic and atmosphere in 1982 is unbelievable. The final cut is also such a brilliant work of storytelling, and I think it's one of the pinnacles of science fiction in any medium.
