The gangster movie genre remains one of the most enduring in cinema, with both the current and past landscapes featuring some of the best examples of all-time. Obviously, <em>The Godfather </em>and <em>Goodfellas </em>continue to be considered the best of the genre, but for me, I still think <em>The Departed </em>has to be my favorite. Though technically a remake, Martin Scorsese's direction combined with its gripping story and magnificent performances have made it a rare 2.5-hour-long movie I can rewatch time and again.
