WARNING: Contains Spoilers for BATMAN #160 (2025)!

DC has been teasing that Batman’s pool of sidekicks, past and present, was about to shrink, with many assuming the publisher would choose one Boy Wonder to kill off. However, as DC moves closer to delivering on that tease, the latest Batman issue promises something even more shocking: the deaths of not one, but three Robins, and we already know which ones.

Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee are deep into their Hush sequel, with Batman #160 delivering another mind-bending, heart-racing chapter. In this issue, fans watch as Batman continues his hunt for Thomas “Hush” Elliot, who has made a dramatic return and is now targeting Bruce’s family, whether through manipulation or outright violence.

Issue #160 confirms what Loeb has been hinting at in interviews about the sequel: the Dark Knight’s circle of sidekicks is about to get much smaller. And now, it looks like Dick “Nightwing” Grayson, Jason “Red Hood” Todd, and Damian “Robin” Wayne are the three Robins Hush has vowed to kill.

The war against Batman #160, as the Bat-Family realizes he has enacted a plan to target their loved ones. This strategy effectively splits up the heroes and sends them straight into carefully laid traps. Batgirl rushes to save her father, Commissioner Gordon, while Nightwing hurries to protect his brother, Red Hood. Meanwhile, Damian Wayne’s Robin races to assist Batman. However, this is exactly the response Hush intended to provoke, which becomes painfully clear when Dick and Jason find themselves held at gunpoint by the Joker, and Damian is trapped at knifepoint by Hush himself.

The issue’s final shows a drop of blood tracing down Damian’s throat as Hush faces off with Batman and delivers a chilling message to the Dark Knight: “It’s a shame you can’t be in two places at once. You have other knights in jeopardy. Any way you play this, Bruce… Three Robins die tonight.” With Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin all shown to be in immediate peril, it is clear they are the three Robins Hush has vowed to kill. Whether this fate will come to remains to be seen, but based on recent comments from writer Jeph Loeb, DC may actually be serious about killing off Batman’s Robins.

Loeb and Lee recently sat down with DC for a Q&A, where they answered some of fans’ burning questions about Hush 2. During the interview, Loeb made several references to fixing DC’s “Robin Problem,” a term referring to Bruce having a surplus of sidekicks, past and present, running around Gotham. Loeb ominously stated that he has plans to fix this problem, which strongly suggests that fans will see at least one Robin die by the end of his run. If DC truly goes through with killing a Robin, or perhaps even more than one as Batman #160 teases, it would mark the most consequential deaths to shake the Bat-Family to date.
