A new clip from Twisted Metal season 2 will see major characters like John Doe (Anthony Mackie) and Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) partaking in the titular racing tournament seen in the video game source material. Included in this race will be the killer clown Sweet Tooth, voiced by Will Arnett and physically portrayed by Joe Seanoa. The race will be a core focus of the season, building off how season 1 ended.

Now, Peacock has released a new clip from Twisted Metal season 2, revealing Calypso (Anthony Carrigan) begin the titular derby tournament. The racers begin driving, with some shooting at each other with guns attached to their vehicles. As the race continues, John Doe and Quiet talk about a character being purposefully left behind for her safety. However, she uses a dead driver to her advantage to get onto the race track. As for Sweet Tooth, he's shooting at one driver in a harrowing chase, where he offers the driver ahead a deadly surprise. Check out the new clip below:

What Twisted Metal Season 2's New Clip Says About The Show

The Video Game Adaptation Is Jumping Right Back Into The Action

Twisted Metal season 1 ended with setup for the titular racing contest, which had been notably absent from the show's first episodes. The latest clip shows the event starting in full force, with Calypso overseeing the racers as things quickly take a deadly turn. Sweet Tooth has been an imposing villain since the start of the show, the clip's focus on his actions indicating he'll continue to be a major adversary as the contest continues. However, the funny deflection of one rocket with a character's scythe shows the series' humor remains intact from season 1.

Peacock's Twisted Metal is loud, eccentric, and full of fast car chases and larger-than-life characters – and so are these other movies and shows.

As for John Doe and Quiet, their reasons for being in the race are more multifaceted because of the events of season 1. This deeper meaning will likely be expanded upon across season 2's 12-episode run, with characters in Twisted Metal all having their stories intersect with the protagonists. Their brief moment in the clip hints their storyline is a protection mission, though one that's clearly gone awry not long into the race. How it will play out as the season unfolds remains to be seen.
