Warning! Contains spoilers for Twisted Metal season 1!Twisted Metal debuted on Peacock back in July 2023, and Twisted Metal season 2 is on the way with even more explosive action. The exclusive Peacock series follows John Doe (Anthony Mackie), a milkman with amnesia who is tasked with delivering a mysterious package through a post-apocalyptic wasteland. If the milkman successfully delivers the package, he'll be offered the truth about who he really is, but he's being chased down by hoards of marauders who want him dead. John has a trusty sidekick, Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), who helps him navigate through the dystopian world.

Not only is Captain America himself, Anthony Mackie, leading the cast, but he's ed by Neve Campbell, Stephanie Beatriz, and Will Arnett to name a few other A-list stars. Twisted Metal is also written and co-produced by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote Zombieland and the Deadpool movies, so the series is full of their signature brand of meta humor and delightfully vulgar jokes. The first season only scratched the surface of the fascinating world, and Peacock swiftly renewed a second season which is arriving in 2025.

Twisted Metal Season 2 Sets A Release Date

A few months after Peacock dropped the first teaser for the sophomore outing, the latest news finally confirms the release date for Twisted Metal season 2. Coming nearly two years to the day after the premiere of season 1, the video game adaptation is due to arrive on July 31, 2025. The sophomore season has been given an upgrade and will now feature 12 episodes instead of 10.

To announce the release date, Peacock released a short teaser video that highlights the arrival of the villainous Calypso as his cool entrance is somewhat marred by slowly opening hangar doors. The video then cuts to a few other moments from the season, including Sweet Tooth reveling in violence and a very quick clip of a one-on-one car race through the desert.

Finally, Peacock dropped a handful of exclusive images from season 2, revealing just a taste of what's to come in the new episodes. Returning stars Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz get their own images as John Doe and Quiet, respectively, but the pictures also highlight the newcomers. One features Calypso holding a pistol, while another of Mr. Grimm riding his motorcycle with his signature skull helmet. Lisa Gilroy and Patty Guggenheim's characters are shown, as is the returning Sweet Tooth.

Fortunately, the show is now scheduled to arrive on July 31, 2025, and has been upgraded from 10 episodes to 12.

Twisted Metal season 1 premiered all 10 episodes on July 27, 2023.

Though the entire Twisted Metal season 2 cast hasn't been revealed yet, it's easy to figure out who will return from the season 1 cast given who survived and who didn't. Anthony Mackie will return as John Doe, along with Stephanie Beatriz's Quiet. Dollface was introduced to Twisted Metal in the final episode too, hinting at a major role in the Twisted Metal season 2 cast. Calypso, the video game's main antagonist, was teased toward the end of the season, and Emmy nominee Anthony Carrigan was tapped to play the role.

More new cast were announced in August 2024, and Saylor Bell Curda (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) plays Mayhem, Lisa Gilroy (Jury Duty) is Vermin, and Michael James Shaw (The Walking Dead) plays an as-yet-unknown role. Furthermore, Richard de Klerk (CBGB) will play the skull-faced Mr. Grimm while Tiana Okoye (The Good Place) is the sinister Dollface. Finally, Patty Guggenheim (She-Hulk) is set to appear as Raven. How The Season 1 Ending Set Up Twisted Metal Season 2

Bigger Things To Come In Season 2

Thomas Haden Church as Agent Stone looking down in sunglasses in Twisted Metal

While the lack of a Twisted Metal tournament might have come as a disappointment, that just means that the tournament in season 2 will be such a satisfying payoff

It's almost as if the whole of Twisted Metal season 1 was setting up season 2. There's no actual Twisted Metal tournament in the Peacock series. Instead, most of the 10 episodes see Raven training Joe to become a Twisted Metal champion. While the lack of a Twisted Metal tournament might have come as a disappointment, that just means that the tournament in season 2 will be such a satisfying payoff. Raven also mentions Calypso by name, who set up the depraved tournament in the video game series, and he's clearly being established as the series' main villain.

Though Sweet Tooth was shot in the head and run over by a Jeep at the end of season 1, the iconic clown will be back for Twisted Metal season 2 too. Sweet Tooth's final scene sees him carrying a screaming Stu away from Mike, so there'll be a new power dynamic between Sweet Tooth and Stu in the next season. Finally, Agent Stone, who was something of a villain in the series, held a gun to his head and was ready to pull the trigger, but the scene cuts, hinting that Stone is still alive in Twisted Metal and will return in Twisted Metal season 2.

The Twisted Metal Tournament Will Happen

John and Quiet grin in Twisted Metal

Given the ending of Twisted Metal season 1, the Twisted Metal season 2 story seems pretty apparent. Season 2 will see a Twisted Metal tournament as per the game series. However, outside the tournament, John Doe will become more mature and learn to act like an adult in the next season of Twisted Metal, and he'll finally learn more about his past. Other Twisted Metal season 2 story details could see Agent Stone getting something of a redemption arc, and Sweet Tooth will have an ever greater thirst for blood than in season 1.

Sweet Tooth is back and on a rampage, while the various newcomers are highlighted. Finally, the teaser ends with the event's organizer, Calypso, taking the stage to invite competitors to his devilish derby.
