EDITOR'S NOTE: This article is for Wordle answer #273; the March 20th Wordle answer is available now.
Today's The New York Times for over 1 million dollars.
To play a game of Wordle, players need to figure out a five-letter word within six guesses. Each time a word is guessed the game will provide clues that guide the player towards the correct word for the day. If a letter is highlighted in green, that means it is correct and has the correct placement. Yellow indicated that the letter is correct but in the wrong place on the word. Finally, if the letter is grey, it is not in the word at all. Using this information players continue guessing until the actual answer is found, or they run out of guesses. Wordle also provides a Hard Mode that can be accessed through the options menu. In this mode, players are not allowed to repeat letters that have been proven to be incorrect or move correct letters, this helps add a little more critical thinking to the game and forces players to stick with the clues provided.
When a player is finished with their Wordle for the day they can access the social media sharing button on the stats screen. Clicking this copies the player's daily attempt using small colored emoji boxes. These boxes represent the player's journey to the correct answer and are a perfect way to show off how someone did without spoiling the actual words guessed. Throughout 2022 players began sharing their results on Twitter and Facebook, this only helped gain the game popularity as it added a bit of competitiveness with players showing off how fast they achieved the daily word.
