A large part of what makes Animal Crossing: New Horizons so addictive for many is the relaxing nature of completing small daily tasks that progress you towards a larger goal. However, if you've spent a fair amount of time in-game, then you know completing the Critterpedia is no easy feat, as the majority of specimens require specific months, weather, and times of day to even spawn.

Luckily, one well-known ACNH content creator in the community recently took to Reddit to share his method for turning this monotonous task into a few days' work. In his post, Dagnel reveals his "fun fact" that the entire Critterpedia, all 200 specimens, can be collected in as little as five unique days.

Additionally, for those who are interested in seeing the method in action, Dagnel also shared a YouTube video on his channel that documents his entire process over 40 real-time hours.

Completing ACNH's Critterpedia Just Got Easier

Finish Your Critterpedia In As Little As 5 Days By Following This Method

To fully complete your Critterpedia, you need to collect 200 specimens, which include all Bugs, Fish, and Sea Creatures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. While that sounds easy enough, each specimen has unique conditions that are required for it to appear, which can make keeping track a bit of a nightmare. That is, until Dagnel outlined his method for doing so. Simply put, Dagnel's 5-day plan includes promptly preparing yourself for each day in advance and then ensuring you are at the right point in the year.

Island evaluation is an important part of New Horizons, but the rating system is too strict for players with alternative decorating styles.

This process requires one day in each of the following months: June, August, September, December, and April. Starting in June on a fresh island, you'll need to have paid off your first loan, ordered a wetsuit, and begun planting flowers. From there, you'll start collecting all the available specimens for that time of year before time-jumping to day two in August. Each day features specific steps that you must take to ensure you're ready for the next one, and you must collect all the specimens for that day before moving on. Once you've followed the instructions for all five days, your Critterpedia will be complete.

I Couldn't Be Happier With This Easy Tip

Slow Progress Discouraged Me From Thinking I'd Ever Finish The Critterpedia

As someone who has still yet to ever fully complete the Critterpedia in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I cannot wait to implement this method. Between endless spreadsheets to help track required conditions and trying to make the most of each day, it became exhausting to try to identify what was still needed and how to acquire it. Instead, I had accepted defeat and settled on the fact that I would either accidentally complete it one day or never finish it at all.

Dagnel's method does use time traveling in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but could technically be done on the same five days over one year, if you're against doing so.

Now, that's no longer a problem, as I know I can sit down and spend 2–3 days dedicated to finishing it and be able to do it once and for all. Being able to put this previously daunting task in the past will allow me to focus on the aspects of Animal Crossing: New Horizons I truly enjoy, while still feeling the sense of accomplishment in knowing I have finally completed the Critterpedia.
